This past week was one of the hottest yet! Anytime I spent outside that did not include a pool was kept very short. Even by the water, I couldn’t lay out without feeling somewhat like a rotisserie chicken. I think that most people would agree that air conditioning is a beautiful thing. Luckily, I ventured out long enough to spot this Fashionista’s cool outfit.
She kept it very weather appropriate by opting for a simple black tank top, something every woman should own. Her opaque mini skirt features an ankle skimming sheer overlay, giving it a playful touch. This also gives the illusion of a slightly dressier look, but we all know how comfortable it really is. Someone once told me maxi skirts are like yoga pants in disguise and I agree. An added bonus is that the material allows her legs to keep cool while being shaded from the sun.
The best part about the outfit is that it is neutral and monochromatic, allowing her accessories to steal the spotlight. There is no need for a spotlight though, because these silver sandals shine on their own. Metallic accessories are great because they eliminate the need to have on flashy clothing and can work for both day and night. Not to mention, your most common metallic colors — silver and gold — match just about anything!
Her lustrous shoes also went nicely with her statement necklace. I love how the necklace mixes both studs and chains, with a few pops of color for some added interest. The studs and chains give her a bit of an edge that works perfectly here. Together, these pieces serve as a glistening frame for the otherwise all black ensemble.
This Fashionista found her fabulous necklace from Express. Want to try out the metallic trend too? J.Crew has got you covered! Try these mirror metallic leather oxfords for a look that’s smart yet shiny. Glinting heels can work from the office straight to your girl’s night out! Or, take after this Fashionista and try some sandals.
