ACCESSORIES REPORT: Fedorable Hat

I know. That was a stretch. However, what’s not-so-lame this summer are fedora hats. No longer can our grandpas on the golf course or old school gangsters be the only ones to pull this accessory off. Fedora hats will protect your face from getting burned in a stylish way.

I found this week’s Fashionista when I was venturing through the street of Ann Arbor at an art fair. She paired a sheer, lace dress with a fedora straw hat, gold cross earrings, sunglasses and gladiator sandals. Rather than aimlessly bopping around (like I was), this Fashionista was actually running one of the booths at the fair. I respect a girl who can accessorize this well, knowing she will be working outside in the severe summer heat.

Personally, I am a fan of lace, but fedora hats can go with just about any outfit. Anything from a bikini at the beach to a dress and heels for a night out, top it with a fedora hat. If you love hats, but the fedora is not your style, do no fret. A great alternative and bold fashion statement are wide brim hats. They also keep more than just your face shaded, and make you feel like an uncover celebrity (bonus).

If you’re still thinking that none of the options above will work for you, it seems like you might be more into classic accessories. Baseball hats never get old and are only a doorway away if you have a brother.

Whether you like to play celebrity or want to accessorize at work, hats are a must this summer. Keep your skin covered and healthy while still looking adorable.

Spotted: Valentin Yudashkin’s spring 2013 ready-to-wear collection contained models wearing red, white and blue straw fedora hats.
