Satchel purses have become quintessential for on-the-go Fashionistas. Being both convenient and an opportunity for a major fashion statement, satchels are a great way to express your individual style. First appearing in runway shows years ago, they have continued to transform in color, size and pattern with no intention of going away anytime soon.
Bold neon, pretty bows, edgy Aztec or simply structured are just a few of the new variations of this cross-body bag that are being sold. The Fashionista above chose a feminine nude satchel with a large leather bow, adding much more than sophistication to her look. The slightly oversized purse that hung from her left hip resembled the character of designers like kate spade or alice + olivia, but had actually been purchased by the Fashionista from a small market in Venice, Italy.
What I love most about this style purse are the aspects it brings to your outfit. A nude satchel can be used to compliment a simple look, while a brightly colored satchel can add interest to a more achromatic top and bottom. Satchels also contribute features to your look that are less noticeable. For example, wearing the strap of the satchel across your body can break up an outfit that matches just a little too much. Wearing it hanging off your shoulder instantly adds a bit of edginess. As you’re shopping for your next bag, try to look for a purse (satchel or not) that will continuously add an element of interest to all of your future outfits!
Spotted: Alberta Ferretti featured a stunning nude, white and peach bag that doubled as both a clutch and a satchel in her resort 2014 collection. The bag was paired with a sheer black blouse and matching pencil skirt.
