While I love a good statement necklace just as much as the next Fashionista, lately I’ve been obsessed with tiny charm necklaces. They come in a broad spectrum of shapes, from hearts to triangles to wishbones. What is great about a simple necklace is that it adds a little something special without being overwhelming. They work with almost any outfit and can be worn everyday. That extra hint of sparkle is sophisticated and intriguing.
This Fashionista is fresh and, though simple, very eye-catching. High-waisted denim shorts are a must-have for the summer, and with a crop top, these two garments were practically made for each other. This Fashionista paired her distressed denims with a floral top, juxtaposing a girly print with a little edge. The creaminess of her shirt was mirrored in her oversized pearl earrings, a classic jewelry choice. At her neck, she wore a delicate gold disc. Her sandals were interesting without detracting attention from her clothing.
The ankle-strap sandal is very popular for this season. While you may worry that the strap will interrupt the line of your leg, I find that it can actually be quite flattering. Thinner ankle-straps in particular keep you from feeling stumpy. Two-tone sandals, like those seen on the Fashionista above, are also big. My favorite versions are nude and black or nude and a bright accent color, like yellow. It works best to wear two-tone sandals with a fairly simple ensemble, that way their visual interest is not lost. This sandal trend is available in both flat and heeled styles. A slightly dressier pair, like these from ASOS, is a wardrobe staple.
Spotted: Two-tone and ankle-strap sandals were featured on the runway at Michael Kors’ spring 2013 ready-to-wear show.
