For a moment, I thought this week’s Fashionista was my doppelganger walking towards me on the street. Her sweater skirt and wedge boot combo is my go-to look right now, for it helps me deal with the contrast between the 106-degrees weather outside and the arctic tundra that is my office. And on top of all that, the watch she was wearing is practically an exact replica of the one on my wrist.
If you’ve met me, you know that I hate (emphasis on the hate) my phone. I know. First world problems, right? But phones are pure evil. Did you know alarms will sound even if the device is TURNED OFF? Ever since it went off at full volume during my first day of Statistics, my phone has been exiled to the bottom of my bag, on airplane mode with the volume turned off. You can imagine my reluctance to dig through my purse or backpack for a task as simple as checking the time.
Even if you’re the kind of person who is attached at the thumbs to your iPhone, think about how it looks when you check your phone during a meeting. Unprofessional, right? My love of fashion and my distaste for being late made the purchase of a watch inevitable. If you aren’t already a member of Rue La La, I highly suggest it because of the exclusive sales on awesome designers. This RumbaTime watch is simple and elegant, with a minimal face and gold details, but what I love about it is the white silicone strap, which adds a modern touch. Plus you save about $15 which makes it super affordable. Want to kick butt at your next presentation? You can get a jolt of confidence in two steps: 1) Your dad’s old Rolex 2) This sharp J.Crew blazer.
I promise you’ll be CEO in no time! Pun intended.
