As summer draws to an end here in Boston, we're all trying to hold on to those last couple of warm days by sporting shorts, tanks and dresses. Well Fashionistas, I urge you to end the summer season with a bang, and vamp up your outfits with a colorful belt instead of merely throwing on one of your summer classics and heading for the door. Color blocking remains in the trend reports these days, and why not add some flair by incorporating a belt into the mix?
This Fashionista has decided to show off her tan with a pair of lavender shorts. She keeps her look quite simple with a plain black tee and woven sandals. The key piece to take note of, however, is the red belt. When I saw her on the street I couldn’t help but notice the uncommon color pairing of red and purple. Although her outfit is simple, you can see that the belt ties the whole outfit together by giving an extra pop of color. To get a similar belt, try this braided Forever 21 skinny belt.
If red just isn’t your color, try this J.Crew number and pair it with a fun colored pair of pants, like these Urban ankle grazers. If you’re feeling even more bold, take a solid colored dress, add a white crop top, buckle on this Anthropologie double colored belt, and voila — you’ve got a completely color blocked outfit!
Belts are sometimes an afterthought in people’s outfit choices, but this season I challenge all you Fashionistas/os to reach out of your comfort zone and allow an accessory to MAKE your outfit!
