Don't get me wrong, I love a good heel/wedge/platform/flatform situation. But my feet and back, not so much. Plus, when heading to class or grabbing brunch with friends, how practical would it be to show up in five inch heels? I guess maybe if you were Nicki Minaj or Lady Gaga, but I digress…
That is why I couldn't be more ecstatic that flats are a major trend for fall. Often people associate flats with the words “simple” or “boring.” Not this fall, Fashionistas! As this Fashionista illustrates, this season flats are all about the special details. I love the straps and bows on this Fashionista's open-toed flats. A flat like this works great with dresses or skirts. It is also a great shoe to transition into fall with by pairing it with a sweater like this Fashionista and a flowy skirt.
Flats can also be used to make a basic outfit anything but basic. When wearing skinnies and a white T-shirt, pair it with flats with a special detail such as these lizard ones by Alexander Wang or these truly animal inspired flats by Marc Jacobs.
Give your back a break and your wardrobe a boost by rocking flats for fall. Just because you aren't five inches taller doesn't mean you can't stand out.
