Going to Jewish day school, we always had different options for prayers. I was in the Womens’ Minyan, where we frequently watched “Pay it Forward” and various Oprah episodes. After watching about acts of kindness, you always seem to feel inspired to help those in need. However, when faced with many philanthropic options these days you have to ask yourself how you want to get involved.

One way to get involved is through fashion. Designers will donate to charities based on proceeds they receive from a certain product. From breast cancer to children in poverty, there are many causes that are given proceeds from products. This way you can be in style all while helping people and the planet!

I spotted this Fashionisto on a bleary, rainy day in D.C. However, that did not stop him from dressing up. Adding a navy Ralph Lauren cardigan to black Levi’s skinnies and a striped Urban Outfitters baseball tee gives him a polished look. His addition of striped J.Crew socks and Toms in a camel color brighten up a rather neutral outfit, all while helping unprivileged children who otherwise could not afford shoes receive a pair.

Toms are neither the first nor only philanthropic fashion out there. Pink flats by Tory Burch are always available in February in support of breast cancer awareness. Fashion for Haiti shirts by the Council of Fashion Designers of America were popular after the hurricane in Haiti in 2009. The (Red) campaign teams up with various stores for red clothing in support of the fight against AIDS. There are numerous other fashion for charity products constantly present. There are various options, so that every Fashionista and Fashionisto can find a product they love to wear all while supporting their favorite charities. Good cause and good fashion. What more could you possibly want?
