Hands down the queen of ombré hair is the lovely, Drew Barrymore. Her roots keep getting darker and darker as the strands fade into lighter shades of blonde all the way to their wavy tips. This hair trend no longer seems so extreme as a slew of celebs, models and editors have jumped on the two-toned bandwagon. Ombré hair has exploded in pastel hues on the streets. Check out this trendsetter in NYC whose tresses fade from black to mint green. The trend has become widely popular on college campuses, especially here at BU.
This Fashionista’s ombré hair subtly fades from light brown to blonde. It is straight to perfection, and the heavy side bang gives the hairstyle even more style. Listen up DIY-ers and budget-conscious Fashionistas, she colored her hair herself. To achieve the color gradient, this Fashionista used Garnier Nutrisse Nourishing Multi-Lights Highlighting Kit in biege-blonde. Instead of using the comb that comes with the kit, she just used her fingers for even more control of the color. First she dyed half way down the hair shaft, and then washed the highlighter out. She repeated this process twice by highlighting a few inches lower and then finally the tips.
The Fashionista’s ombré hair fits her urban style. She breaks up the black on black on black (oh hey Kanye) with a denim button-down and brass colored necklaces. She puts a daytime twist on the classic LBD by pairing it with combat boots instead of heels. Never mind class, this Fashionista looks like she is on her way to a concert at the House of Blues.
There is no slowing down this low risk hair trend, so spice up your strands pronto!
