ALL ABOUT BEAUTY: Ball in Style

Part of every Fashionista/o’s beauty regimen should be exercise, and summer is the perfect time to do things like shoot hoops while catching some rays. As today’s Fashionisto demonstrates, you can score both baskets and style points on the court (although he wouldn’t recommend denim for an actual, full-blown game) by combining a few summer essentials.

Wearing light-washed Levi’s, an anchor print OBEY tank, zebra print Happy Socks, beat-up Converse and Illesteva sunnies, this Fashionisto’s trendy look is nautical meets sporty urban. Navy was a big color on the spring 2012 runways as designers like Paul Smith, Kenzo and 3.1 Phillip Lim incorporated the deep hue into their ready-to-wear menswear collections. Pantone also named “sodalite blue” one of spring 2012’s fashion colors for men. From the runway to the street, this Fashionisto proves how fresh a navy shirt looks with super faded denim, and of course no other color would set off a white anchor print quite as well as navy.

When I asked him about his beauty routine, this Fashionisto said that he uses coconut oil in his hair every morning to nourish and soften his hair while also giving it some shine. He also uses face moisturizer with SPF in it and drinks lots of water, both of which are important for maintaining body and skin hydration especially in the summertime.

It’s obvious that you need to drink a lot of water in the summer to battle the heat and humidity, but it’s easy to forget if drinking eight glasses a day isn’t one of your daily habits. So, whether playing sports in the sun or not, don’t let water be mere inspiration for your boat-themed attire; the actual H2O is important, too!
