ALL ABOUT BEAUTY: Let Down Your Long Hair

I am forever fussing with my hair — I alternate between growing it out, chopping it off and threatening to shave it all off on a weekly basis. I have spent the majority of my life longing for curly hair, and have therefore spent hours and hours testing every curling iron and method for achieving curly hair known to man. It always takes me so long that I do it about once a year. Since my hair is so thick and wavy in all the wrong places, I tend to meticulously blow-dry and straighten my hair everyday. Boring, I know, but it works for me. All of my hair issues can lead to excessive dryness that comes from the direct heat, so it’s always a struggle for me to keep everything under control.

When I spotted this Fashionista doing a little shopping, I couldn’t help but be jealous of her shiny, flowing locks. When I approached her and asked what her wonderful (secret) tricks were for maintaining such a nice mane, she seemed a little confused. I prodded her further and found out why: she doesn’t do anything to her hair! She washes it, lets it air dry and doesn’t straighten it or add product. With no heat damage, her hair shines naturally.

For those of us who aren’t lucky enough to have such naturally easy and carefree hair, there are a couple of tricks to keeping your hair healthy and beautiful. After you wash it, add a dime-sized amount of Moroccan Oil from mid-length to the ends of your hair. This highly sought-after product repairs damaged hair and keeps it smooth and shiny. If you straighten or curl your hair, make sure you use a product to protect it from the heat. I like TRESemmé Heat Tamer Protective Spray.

I can’t end this post without talking about how cute this Fashionista’s ensemble is too! Leggings, an oversized flannel shirt and boots make for a great standby outfit for a lot of college students. She stands out by topping her look off with a red parka.
