ALL ABOUT BEAUTY: Not Your Mother’s Crimp

Like many Fashionistas, I live for a good vintage look. Be it a 1920's finger wave or 1970's stick straight locks, a particular hair can be a beauty time machine. That being said, most people aren't itching to bring back the 1980's crimped hair, unless its for a theme party or an over the top Halloween costume.

Usually we associate these cooky kinks with frizz, scrunchies and loads of hairspray. But this Fashionista put her own spin on a crimped hair revival. The soft bounce of her hair is reminiscent of the always popular loose waves every Fashionista seems to rock these day. This more natural take on the crimp is actually quite easy. Use a crimper on one-inch sections over your entire head. Raking through your hair with a wide tooth comb to break up these rigidness of the kinks. Finish with a light hairspray and, voila, you are 80's chic.

Not ready for a total blast from the past? Try using a deep waver for a more subtle crimp.
