For all the fellow music lovers out there, you know what time of the year it is. That’s right, it’s festival season. Since everyone is aware of the popular ‘Coachella Style’ or managed to get on Instagram during the week of this popular music festival, the trends began to catch on. So why not incorporate this music festival style into our everyday dress? The solution is easier than you think, and it won’t leave you trying to comb glitter out of your hair for the next two weeks.

I know that I am accustomed to seeing very colorful and wild festival outfits, but this year the festival attire seemed to take a turn in a more subtler direction. The trends have been very bohemian, which incorporate very flowy and simplistic attire. While incorporating this festival style into your everyday dress, it is important to keep flow in mind. The Fashionista above is wearing a flowy open back dress that is perfect for any summer day. What better way to make a statement than wearing a backless dress?

While the new style is keeping things simple, no one said the accessories had to be! Everything is about making a statement. While keeping the dress simple, this statement boho coin necklace can turn heads in an instant. Gold, silver, does it matter? Mixing the two is the new trend, and they are the perfect complements for each other. While trying to choose what rings to wear, simply wear them all. One can never go wrong with too many rings. Last but not least on the trends list is beading. Beads are great for accessorizing, but they are even better on the right pair of sandals. Beaded sandals give a great bohemian feel and are the perfect shoe for walking and dancing, which is pretty much all you do at a festival.

As I leave my fellow music lovers today, remember to keep things simple, but to never shy away from making a statement—the bigger the better! Always remember: Life was meant for good friends, great music, and even greater adventure.

STYLE ADVICE: Embrace the Lace

Lace up is all the rage, have you seen it? If the answer is no then I suggest you take a closer look the next time you are out. Lace up garments and shoes have always been on trend, and I have even spotted lace up chokers! But, bigger than these preexisting fashion trends are the lace up plunge tops and lace up miniskirts!

My style advice: Embrace the lace! No matter what your style may be, these two lace up garments are the perfect additions to any closet. They can transform your look from lunch date to a night out on the town! These lace up plunge tops are the perfect way to add personality to any look and have been made easily available by many local stores and retailers. Personally, I am a fan of the lace up ’80s and ’90s graphic rock band T-shirts, but hey, I’m a ’90s chick.

This Fashionista chose to go with a more chic look for an afternoon downtown. If you are looking for the perfect double duo then nothing pairs better together than a suede lace-up miniskirt and thigh-high suede boots: the perfect compliments. As we start to proceed into the warmer months of the year, it’s important to keep that perfect pair of sunglasses on you at all times, the classic Ray-Ban aviators. The personalization of this outfit truly lies in the personalization of the accessories. These tassel earrings aren’t just any tassel earrings; the colorful beads add a lot of sparkle and help to dress the outfit up a bit. For us Fashionistas/os of today, we certainly have a lot to carry and take around with us. If you really want to be a trendsetter, that calls for a classic and timeless piece: the perfect bag!

With the good ol’ North Carolina weather it can be hard to predict the forecast, much less put together a whole outfit! In the middle of January, the weather can range from 69 degrees to 40 degrees; so, I am here to help you remain trendy while being prepared for whatever Mother Nature throws your way. Ask any Fashionista you see and she will tell you that comfort and warmth is at the top of her winter wardrobe list and the perfect sweater can do just that! Fringe is a great way to add detail to any outfit, and what better way to utilize it than on your comfiest sweater?

While this oversized sweater creates the element of comfort and the fringe creates tiny details, but attention to detail did not end here. This Fashionista styled herself to create a more edgy and specific look. These stackable bracelets and matching statement rings are the perfect addition to any outfit, giving it a look of elegance.

While we are currently embracing the fashion trend of the ‘90s revival, chokers are an everyday MUST. Whether you are just now getting on board with the ‘90s trend or have been rocking those Doc Martens for months, chokers are a great place to start. They are an easy way to spice up any outfit and there are hundreds of different styles and colors to choose from. Just by adding this simple black velvet choker to this look it was automatically transformed into a high-fashion statement that no Fashionista can deny.

You can find the most attention to detail in the shoes. These lace-up heels are an automatic attention seeker, creating stylish detail that is hard to ignore. These heels are the perfect way to dress up any outfit and can be worn in several ways. From a night out to simply going out for lunch or a shopping date with your bestie, these are the perfect shoe.

My advice to anyone looking for the perfect winter outfit is to look for intricate details in every garment you choose to wear whether it be jewelry, shoes, ripped jeans, layering, or the perfect sweater. Comfort is key, but attention to details is even more important. Stay #RAD Fashionistas!

STYLE GURU STYLE: Style Is Limitless

My personal style has always been one that is fun, classic, and pushes the border line of edgy. I find fashion and personal style fun because no matter what you do, you can never be wrong. In a world filled with rules and principles of what is right and wrong fashion is where we find our own sense of freedom, and yes I am talking to all my Fashionistas reading. I am a lover of crop tops and chokers. While it is the dead of winter, some may find this look slightly perplexing. Yet I see it as a challenge accepted with rather room to grow. Fashion is limitless; the rules are meant to be broken. Designers everywhere are following this mindset helping to create and observe these new fashion trends that are trickling up or down through the innovation of fashion.

As most of you are well aware fur is a staple item in this winter’s wardrobe. Fur is a great way to find warmth in the winter, while still being able to dress up or down any outfit. For this winter look I chose to incorporate the use of layering. I chose a classic, yet simple, black crop top for the underneath look with the crop giving it a sense of edginess. I then paired it with a pair of light washed high-waisted jeans that are ripped at the knees. This army green parka with fur lining is one of my favorites, because it can help to dress up any outfit while providing great warmth with a classic style. It’s not hard to tell that I am a choker connoisseur, but this wrap choker is one of my go-to accessories. While many thick chokers can create a very bold look, this choker says “I’m here to have fun!” The idea of layering is a very important element to this outfit. Therefore, I chose to incorporate the gray knit leg warmers providing extra warmth between the pant and the black suede wedges. These wedges are a perfect match when wandering the streets of your favorite city or a night out on the town!

Hello Fashionistas, Adrianna here. I am so excited to have the opportunity to join CollegeFashionista as a Style Guru this spring semester.

For those wondering about me I am studying fashion merchandising at Meredith College with minors in both business administration and communications. I enjoy living a healthy and fit lifestyle and going to the gym at least five times a week. I would most definitely say that I have an edgy and wild style, but my active lifestyle is often reflected when wearing athleisure on the day-to-day. A quote I always enjoy having in mind is “keep your squats low and your standards high.” From an early age my obsession with fashion and modeling began. I was always putting on mini fashion shows for my family and friends, acting as both the designer and the model, funny right? I am a firm believer in strong coffee, the perfect contour, and eyebrows always on fleek.

If you are trying to figure out my individual style, then you are in for a whirlwind because my personal style is everywhere and constantly changing. There is no other way to describe my style other than “my style is me;” it’s who I am. What I am sure that you can always spot me in is one of my many chokers. One can never have too many chokers, am I right? One thing that I have noticed is vintage always finding its way into my outfits, which I have grown to truly appreciate. Whenever I am in need of some wardrobe inspiration my go-to girls are Kylie Jenner and Gigi Hadid due to their unique and edgy styles. I have always been drawn to the fashion industry because it is always subject to change. One minute we are rocking our Doc Marten kicks from the ’90s, and the next we are wearing bell bottoms from the ’70s. It’s a beautiful thing. I am in love with the idea of self-expression being represented through the clothes that we choose to wear.

This thick, tan choker is perfect when paired with a fur coat similar in color. One of the biggest key elements to this outfit is the black thigh-high suede boots. These boots help to elongate the leg and help tie together the outfit as a whole. These boots are very versatile and are also great when paired with jeans.
