Meet the Square Silk Scarf—Your New Favorite Accessory

Have you ever felt like your outfit was missing something? Like you needed just a pop of color but didn’t know where to add it? Look no further, the square silk scarf is your new best friend. There are so many fun ways to incorporate the accessory into your wardrobe, but after plenty of experimenting, I’ve found the three best ones to make your outfit pop!

1—Headband. Simply wrap the scarf into about a two-inch section on the diagonals to make it as long as it can be, then tie it around your head. I like the tie to lie in the back, but for a more fun, casual look keeps the knot in the front and tuck the ends. This look goes great with ponytails, buns, and even braids and adds that extra pop of color your look has been craving!

2—Bag tassel. If you’re tired of using the same old bag, this one’s for you! Tie the scarf around the top handle of your bag, or just tie it on the strap like I did to give new life to your favorite purse. You can also change up the color of the scarf to go with different outfits, totally on trend!

3—Necktie. All you have to do is tie the scarf on the diagonal to get the most length out of it and wrap it around your neck. You can always adjust the knot to make it tighter or looser for a different look every time. The messier the better! Let the ends hang out to make it more like a bandana. Add a few necklaces and layer up, or just rock it on its own like I did. The necktie is the fastest way to add a chic touch to any outfit!

How to Pack for Success at Your Summer Internship

Not having what you need in your bag during school can be a nightmare, but not having what you need in your bag at your internship is a complete disaster. After five weeks at my summer internship, I have mastered what you do and do not need to make you as successful as possible and make a great impression. Here’s what you need!

1—Tote bag. While these are usually too large for everyday life, they are your new best friend when it comes to packing for any job. They’re large enough to fit everything you need, and you can pick whatever color or pattern you want on the outside to make a total statement.

2—Umbrella. You never know when you could get stuck in the rain so it’s always better to be safe than sorry. Plus, there are a lot of super cute designs out there to choose from.

3— Portable Charger. This will become your saving grace! My phone never stays charged all day so this device ensures that I can still check out what’s happening on my Instagram on the go.

4— Lotion or moisturize. Trust me, your hands, face, or sometimes your body will start to feel dry throughout the day.

5— Snacks. Perfect to cure your late afternoon hangry self.

6— Makeup on the go. Compact enough to not take up a lot of room in your bag, but just enough to keep you looking your best from nine to five.

7— Computer. Many internships require you to bring your own computer to get work done. While it is a little bulky, finding the perfect tote can help ensure your laptop won’t get damaged on your commute.

8— Mints. Never get stuck anywhere with bad breath. Use them anytime of the day for a quick refresher.

9— Rollerball perfume. To ensure you smell as fresh as a daisy from morning to night.

10— Headphones. You’ll want them for your commute and your boss might need you to use them in the office.

11— Lipgloss or balm. I apply this more frequently than my other makeup touch-ups so I leave it out on its own. Not only does it keep my lips feeling moisturized, but it’s also the cherry on top of your whole makeup look.

12— Sneakers or walking shoes. My office is pretty far from where my train gets in so I leave earlier to give myself time to walk and enjoy the outdoors. However, if I walk in my work shoes, my feet are dead before I even get there. Packing a lightweight pair of sneakers provides comfort for your daily commute and is easy to fit into your bag.

How-To Incorporate Summer Brights Into Your Makeup

Winter is officially over and with that goes the winged eyeliner and neutral eye shadows of frigid days! Now summer is here and colorful eyeshadow is ready to shine!

Ever since I started wearing makeup, I’ve always gravitated towards colors: bold red lips, a pop of pink on my cheeks, a turquoise eye pencil. I used to think that bright makeup should be reserved for nights out or special occasions, but now I constantly find myself reaching for my bright shadows while getting ready for class.

My favorite types of shadows are the ones that have enough oomph on their own and can shine solo! Applying one color across your whole lid not only saves you extra time in the morning but looks great, too! The Vice Palette by Urban Decay has a great range of colors, which lets you experiment with a bunch of different looks and even includes some neutrals for days when you’re not feeling as bold. The key to nailing color—especially on your eyes—is keeping the rest of your makeup simple.

My personal favorite color is yellow. It not only screams summer, but it’s the closest we’ll ever get to the color of sunshine. Not everyone is a fan of yellow, but I’ve found a way to rock it that no one will be able to resist.

For my look, I used a small flat brush to pack on as much color as I could all across my lid. For a more subtle everyday look, a fluffy brush can be used to dust the color across the lid and give an unexpected pop to your eyes. If you aren’t a fan of yellow, pick out any color from the rainbow and make it work for you!
