WHAT TO WEAR: Day to Night

I cannot believe this is my last article for CollegeFashionista! I have enjoyed writing these so much. It’s dead week here at OU, so writing this is a nice break from studying. Summer is creeping right around the corner, and I could not be more excited.

Shooting this article was so much fun. This Fashionista was so fun to work with, and obviously, she takes the cutest pictures ever. Her outfit is super versatile, and she told me loves it because it’s something you can either dress up or dress down. The top is thin enough to wear in the spring with jeans, but you could also wear it in the summer with shorts. Orange can be such a flattering color, and you’re able to see that on this Fashionista. The shoes exhibit the perfect sandal for dressing up any outfit in the spring or summertime. Heeled sandals are becoming so popular this year and I think this pair is great because it is a neutral color, so you could wear them with almost anything. The ripped jeans help make the outfit more casual. If you wore black jeans with it, it would definitely help transition the outfit from day to night.

The accessories add a nice flare to the outfit without being over the top. Belts always add the perfect touch to a seemingly simple outfit. People definitely underestimate belts, but I think it’s important to own one nice belt like this one. The earrings are subtle but trendy. Geometric hoops present a nice spin to a somewhat common style. If you added some more jewelry to this outfit, it would help the transition from day to night.

Transitional outfits need to be emphasized more. You want something you could wear to brunch with your family, but then you can add some more accessories and wear it out with friends at night. I love outfits that have versatility like this one.

I hope this outfit gives you some inspiration during the hallowed times of finals. We are so close to being finished for the year; let’s make it the best!

WHAT TO WEAR: Mod Muse

Spring is here and ready to stay. Well actually, not really in Oklahoma. The weather here has ranged from hot to pretty chilly, but we have been having a few days with the perfect spring weather. I need to take advantage of these days though because soon it will be super hot and humid to the point where I won’t want to step outside!

During this transition into warmer weather, one of my favorite things to do is pair a dress with a light jacket on top. This Fashionista executed this style so well. The black A-line dress fits like a dream and adds a fun mod vibe to the outfit. It’s suede, which makes it interesting, but you can still breathe in the dress. The zipper adds a flirty flare to the outfit too. Both the jacket and dress contrast quite a bit, but I think they compliment each other. The green utility jacket is yet another closet essential I think everyone should own. This jacket works great for the fickle weather because it’s light, but it is great to throw on if you get cold.

Okay, these shoes scream fun. They add to the mod style of the outfit, but they do so with a more current fashion. Platforms are huge right now, and I feel like these shoes could add the perfect pizzaz to a simple outfit. The earrings add some fun to the outfit without overpowering the whole ensemble. Statement earrings are some of my favorites, and this pair is awesome because it adds a subtle statement.

This outfit fits perfect for the transition into warmer weather. Mod styles make a unique statement because it tends not to be the trendiest style at the moment. This outfit is one of my favorites I’ve shot so far, and I hope you enjoyed it as well!

STYLE ADVICE: Casual Cool Style

Hi loves! I hope you all had a rockin’ February! I am so excited for March because we all know what that means…. spring break! Spring break is the best time to get away from school and spend time with your friends. I hope you all have an amazing spring break, and I hope you enjoy this article!

This Fashionista is killing the street style game. This look is absolutely perfect for the spring transition, and it’s perfect to wear to class or even out to lunch with friends. The chambray shirt is a closet staple, and I love this one because it has the added lace at the bottom. Chambray shirts are perfect for layering with sweaters or to wear open with a T-shirt. The black jeans are of course a closet staple as well! I wear my black jeans with everything, and I think they provide a nice base for this outfit to be built around. This outfit could also look cool paired with a pair of black leather pants!

The shoes act as a great contrast with the rest of the outfit. They are super versatile and look comfortable enough to wear to class or out shopping for the day. The outfit is made more casual by the shoes, which means this outfit could be dressed up a little bit more with a pair of heeled booties. Lastly, the T-shirt is my favorite part of this outfit. Who doesn’t love coffee and flowers? This T-shirt is super fresh and makes the outfit fun and Instagram worthy! I love a graphic T-shirt to wear on a casual day.

This outfit is wonderful for the casual days of hanging out with friends and spending time outside. I love the coolness of it, and I think the glasses and lipstick make it chic. Spring is coming right around the corner peeps! I hope you all transition into it in style like this Fashionista.

STYLE GURU STYLE: Spinning into Spring

Hi everyone! I’m so excited to be back this month! School started three weeks ago, and I’m just now getting back into the groove of things. This semester is going to be long, but hopefully it’ll still be fun. I had so much fun shooting this outfit with my friends! I hope you enjoy it.

This outfit is ideal for the winter to spring transition. Here in Oklahoma the weather keeps switching between 40 degrees and 70 degrees. This shirt is amazing for spring. I bought mine from Zara, but this is a similar option. It’s light and airy, but it also works great for layering with a coat, especially this pink one. The coat is one of my absolute favorite purchases this season. Pink is super popular this year; however, this pink is a little different. Blush has been the color that has been ruling the season, but I like this Pepto Bismol-pink because it’s reminiscent of Jackie Kennedy’s famous pink suit. The coat isn’t too heavy either, so it works great in those in-between temperatures, but it’ll still keep you warm if you wear it with a long sleeve shirt. Mine is from Zara, but here is a similar option. The ripped jeans add a nice edginess to the outfit and make it more interesting. They are so comfortable, and the fit is absolutely perfect. These jeans are a great staple to add to your closet because they add a nice oomph to any type of outfit. Here is a similar pair. The snakeskin boots tie the outfit together perfectly. They are cheap and comfortable too! I absolutely adore snakeskin and haven’t been able to take these off since I bought them. I bought mine from Target, but here is another option.

This outfit is awesome for the winter to spring transition because it can keep you warm, but the colors are springy. It also would be a great outfit for a Valentine’s Day date. I hope you enjoyed this article, and everyone is having a great month. Have a happy Valentine’s Day everyone!

STYLE GURU BIO: Haley Hogan

Hi friends! My name is Haley Hogan. I am a sophomore studying public relations at the University of Oklahoma. This is my first semester writing for CollegeFashionista, and I am over-the-moon excited. I have loved anything fashion and beauty related for as long as I can remember. I cannot wait to show this passion through my articles this semester.

I do not think I could categorize my style into something specific, and I don’t think anyone else should have to either. This is why I love fashion; anyone can be and do anything they want with what they wear. I love makeup almost as much as I love clothes; however, my number one love is my french bulldog. These are a few of my passions, as well as my love for New York City and amazing books.

For my outfit, I decided to do an edgier look someone could wear when they’re going out with their friends. This shirt is one of my favorite finds from Zara. It’s a menswear style someone could wear with pants or leggings, but it has a unique backside. These pants, from Zara as well, are the most amazing biker pants. They look amazing, and they’re comfortable too! I’ve had these booties for a while, and they are the best going-out shoes. They’re comfortable and dressy, so it’s the best of both worlds.

I am so excited for the opportunity to be a Style Guru! Check out my page and social media to see more looks like this!
