STYLE ADVICE: School Cutie

This style post is for those of you that are living in an unpredictable weather situation. Here in Maryland, every day it switches between too hot or way too cold. I’m not sure if mother nature realizes its spring! I spotted this cute Fashionista on campus, baring the crazy weather with her cute outfit.

This Fashionista has a minimalist approach on style but who cares when you look that cute? Simplicity is very common when running around campuses, but she really pulls it off. Our Fashionista is wearing a turtleneck striped shirt, this shirt does have a little crop to it, making it perfect for some warmer weather. Due to the unpredictable weather, our Fashionista felt she needed to add a North Face vest to protect against some recent wind and rain. The black vest adds a nice texture and plain color in contrast to her striped shirt.

Many people question why white shoes are purchased, I personally love white shoes to add a pop of bright color to an outfit. It’s totally ok if they get dirty! Don’t be scared to by white shoes they can easily be cleaned using bleach and a washer and dryer. This Fashionista’s outfit is on the darker side so her shoes help to brighten it up and look more appealing for the spring weather. I am a huge fan of cuffing jeans, I think they always look great with a simple outfit and this Fashionista pulled off that look! Sometimes during school, there is little to no motivation to dress cute, but this Fashionista made a cute look using simple clothes.

WHAT TO WEAR: Comfy Is The New Casual

Hello fashion lovers, for this week’s article we’re looking at a Fashionista who is killing the comfy, casual, and cute look all in one. This natural beauty is taking this change of temperature well and it’s not stopping her from looking cute at all times.

With the unpredictable weather lately here in Maryland, we’ve seen a change in outfits from less dressed up to more comfy everyday looks. This Fashionista does a fantastic job of staying comfy and casual.

Using a basic black scoop neck long sleeve, and pairing it with a vest, is a perfect way to keep warm and look cute. A vest does not take much to look dressed up, but it is the perfect way to achieve this look! This Fashionista pairs her black colors with a pair of dark high-waisted pants. Our Fashionista decided to cuff her jeans to give her outfit a subtle detail.

You can never go wrong with black booties! Black booties are the perfect way to dress up a very casual look and look stylish. I think we all have that one pair of booties that are our go-to when wanting to dress up a little more.

Personally, I still love the choker trend and it is very rare that you will catch me without a choker around my neck. This Fashionista is killing the choker game with this subtle gold choker. Chokers like the type she is wearing are my ultimate favorite! They’re so cute and they’re not the typical dark chunky chokers, but so cute and feminine looking. It totally completes her entire outfit!

ALL IN THE DETAIL: ’60s Going On 2017

Hello fashion lovers, for my first article of the semester I am writing style advice of the week! Looking around campus, on this nice warmer, winter day this Fashionista caught my eye. Her outfit was the perfect inspiration for more winter trends!

Thigh-high boots have been a huge winter trend, and this Fashionista is totally rocking them. If you never thought thigh-high boots and jeans weren’t acceptable, they totally are. They help dress up a simple pair of jeans and make the outfit look so cute! These black faux suede boots are a must for the winter season, they are a real trend to watch! Another winter trend is her white lace up top, we’ve been seeing this lace up trend all over from T-shirts to sweaters. The lace up look is very trendy and adds an attention-grabbing focal point to her outfit.

Sunglasses have always been a huge part of every outfit for me; I personally loved the cat-eye look and never even thought to wear circular sunglasses. Sunglasses are easy to help dress up an outfit or even help bring the outfit all together. Her sunglasses give her overall look a ’60s feel. The small detail of her sunglasses helps bring this Fashionista’s overall look all together!

Her weekend wear consists of black thigh-high boots paired with dark wash denim, which helps contrast the black faux suede boots. Her top is a white lace-up, bell-sleeve top, which adds a bright touch of color to her darker outfit. This Fashionista’s vest is part suede and part fur, which adds a nice texture to her outfit!

STYLE GURU BIO: Samantha Fania

Hello fashion lovers, my name is Samantha Fania and this is my second semester as a Style Guru! I am beyond excited to be back and sharing tons of new styles around campus as well as abroad! I am fortunate enough to be studying abroad in Germany, and taking some trips to Las Vegas and Daytona, Florida! I am a fashion merchandising major and a photography minor studying at Stevenson University in Maryland. As you could imagine this is an amazing experience for my life-long passion for fashion and photography! As I adventure into my second semester of junior year I am thrilled to be on the look out for the latest and greatest fashion trends around campus spanning from winter to spring!

My passion for this industry has evolved throughout the years, as I child I was such a tomboy and barely cared how I left the house. Fashion is amazing, you can describe so much about yourself with a single article of clothing and you can express so many moods with one color.

I tend to dress casual because I spend all my time getting ready doing makeup and I run out of time. So like today that has also happened. I used the Kylie Cosmetics Burgundy Palette to create my eye look; I also used the Kylie Exposed matte lipstick. In my winter casual mood I am wearing a black neoprene sweatshirt with a black vest to give me a little more warmth. I styled my outfit with ripped jeans that I cuffed at the bottom, and I threw on a pair of white vans to complete my look.

I’ve recently loved wearing my hair up in a ponytail, so I really focused on having nice eye makeup since it would be the focal point of my look. Following the latest trend, chokers are definitely my favorite I have nine and my collection is growing fast, they’re so simple and add a mysterious dark flare. Along with that trend I hopped on the cat-eyes sunglasses trend and fell completely in love! How cute are these! Due to the sun shining so bright, I chose black cat eye sunglasses with a silver outline. These glasses are my go-to they’re so simple and look good when just thrown on!

WHAT TO WEAR: Fluff In The City

Hello fashion lovers, in this week’s article I will be showcasing a cute winter trend that’s perfect for a girl’s night out in the city. It’s starting to get chilly, but this look keeps you warm and stylish!

Thigh high boots are a must this winter! Not only are they super cute, but also they’re a great way to keep your legs warm. This neutral taupe suede boot can truly pair with any outfit, and they make this short Fashionista a little taller! If you don’t own a pair over-the-knee boots I highly suggest purchasing a pair, you can’t go wrong with this fall 2016 trend!

This look is quick and easy to make anyone look cute and stylish for a night on the town. This ribbed mock neck sweater dress in beige from Forever 21 is so simple to dress up for a night out. Not only is the dress a knit material, but it is very comfortable for a busy night! A fluffy pink faux fur vest completes this Fashionistas look, it quickly dresses the dress up from everyday to nightlife look. This look is ideal for a fun night out with the ladies. Our lovely Fashionista throws on a long statement piece with a gold accent to make the whole look come together. I’ve never considered wearing a dark purple lip, but this Fashionista knows how to work it. She truly makes this look appear effortless in the way it all flows together.

I highly recommend stepping out of your comfort zone and trying something new with the holidays coming up. Stay tuned for more styling tips!

FASHION FROM ABROAD: Seeing Sirenetta

Hello fashion lovers, as we say our final goodbyes to summer, the beaches, the fresh air and pack away all our bathing suits, don’t pack away those onesies just yet!

As we all know Fashionistas are always on the run, and me, I’m always late to class. I’m always looking for a quick and stylish outfit for my on-the-go life. Recently, I’ve been resorting to bodysuit; they’re easy and fun to dress up. Have you ever considered wearing a one-piece bathing suit as a bodysuit? No? Well me either, until I explored a small town in New Jersey where I saw a Fashionista wearing what I thought was the cutest black V-neck bodysuit. I was quickly told that she was actually wearing a onesie bathing suit that she had designed and made herself! She owns her own bathing suit company located in New Jersey named, Sirenetta Bikini. Not only was this Fashionista incredible talented, but she was wearing the cutest fall outfit!

This Fashionista’s outfit is based around her onesie bathing suit, which on her website is ironically called the “Ease Onesie”. This bathing suit starts with a V-neck and low deep cut sides, all leading to the laced detail back. Her inspiration in making this piece was to make a one-piece that showed off everything you wanted to, but keep it sexy and comfortable. Luckily, it’s a bonus for us that it can double as a bodysuit and look super cute with a pair of jeans or even a skirt!

A fluffy white jacket is perfect for this incoming cool air, it adds texture and a pop of color to the Fashionista’s sleek all-black look. You can never go wrong with chunky black platforms give a little height to this petite Fashionista, and the black adds to her head to toe color theme.

Traveling to New Jersey made me realize maybe bathing suits never go out of season! Stayed tuned for more fashion inspiration coming up!

ALL IN THE DETAILS: Fall Back Into Basics

In the fall spirit, I wanted to focus on the little details that make an outfit fit the season perfectly. For this article, we focus on this Fashionista who loves to fall back into basics. Never know what’s trendy? You can never go wrong with basic pieces! Falling back into basics, this gorgeous Fashionista is killing the basic game. Basics are truly considered as classics; these consist of flannels, halter tops and skirts.

You can never go wrong with wearing plaid in the fall; it’s pretty much considered a fall basic. Wearing plaid is fairly easy, but this Fashionista is all about the little details. In order to complement her oversized plaid shirt, she wears a bright white halter crop with that gorgeous amber/orange bralette slightly peaking through. Loving all these fall colors she decided to pair her layered tops with a neutral navy blue corduroy skirt with button detail. The navy matches perfectly to the navy within her plaid shirt, this Fashionista really focused on the details to tie this outfit all together! Because she is so colorful with her outfit she decided to stick with a neutral lace-up bootie for a dressier casual look.

Right now because we’re in the awkward weather where it’s pretty cool in the morning and by early afternoon you’re sweating, layering is ideal. This layered look is perfect for this unpredictable weather you can easily take off the fall colored flannel and tie it around your waist to showcase the fitted halter top crop top. All these small details lead to the best fall outfit I’ve seen on campus! Stay tuned for more about the latest trends on campus!

STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Denim Days

Hello fashion lovers, for my first article I want to put a spotlight on those Fashionistos out there. Not every guy has the knowledge of style and luckily this boy does! A business administration major and a varsity lacrosse player does not mean fashion isn’t important to this Fashionisto. He keeps up with the latest trends and truly has a sense of style.

A fall trend coming back is distressed denim. Today, this Fashionisto rocks the ripped denim jeans. He pairs these jeans with the classic high-top black Vans, to make it a more cool and relaxed look. The duo complements eachother to give a relaxed vibe. A small detail he focuses on is the small cuff at the bottom of his jeans to meet the top of his Vans, he prefers narrower roll for a tapered look. Cuffed jeans are a timeless trend.

Recently, we see more denim on denim entering back into today’s trends. A way to go about wearing denim on denim; wear dark denim jeans and a lighter denim top or jacket, which is the most flattering to the eye. In light of that comeback trend, this Fashionisto pairs his distressed jeans with light denim button-up. He prefers to leave it unbuttoned so his long, Justin Bieber-inspired shirt can be seen. This look is a comfy but versatile look. It is very simple style making it very easy to duplicate. During the hotter months, it is easy to remove the light denim overlay and tie it around your waist while on the way to classes. Nothing looks cooler than a pair of shades, here we see the Fashionisto styled in Ray-Bans, in the classic style “Justin” Ray-Bans.

STYLE GURU BIO: Samantha Fania

Hello fashion lovers, my name is Samantha Fania and this is my first semester as a Style Guru. I am beyond excited! I am a fashion merchandising major and a photography minor studying at Stevenson University in Maryland. As you could imagine, this is an amazing experience for my passion for fashion and photography! As I adventure into my junior year, I am thrilled to be on the lookout for the latest and greatest fashion trends around campus spanning from summer to winter. I truly love this industry.

My passion for this industry has evolved throughout the years. As a child, I was such a tomboy and if you knew me in third grade you would have thought I was a boy. Looking at myself now, I love the glam, makeup and getting dressed up! Fashion is amazing, you can describe so much about yourself with a single article of clothing and you can express so many moods with one color.

I tend to dress casual because I spend all my time getting ready doing my hair and makeup and I run out of time. Typical Samantha… so like today, that has also happened. In my fall mood, I am wearing a black long sleeve top with cutouts on the shoulders styled with white jeans to make it a little more summery. I accompanied this look with a matte berry lip color to add an extra pop.

My favorite accent color is gold, it has such a warm feeling and it complements my skin and hair color. In cosmetology school, I learned I could rock warm and cool colors, but gold will forever be my go-to. From gold eye shadow, a gold ring, a gold choker and gold cat-eye sunglasses, I think you could tell. Following the latest trend, chokers are definitely my favorite. I have five and my collection is growing fast, they’re so simple and add a mysterious dark flare. Along with that trend, I hopped on the cat-eye sunglasses trend and fell completely in love! How cute are these! This outfit pretty much describes me as a person simple, dark and classy.
