STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: End of Summer Denim

I am starting to notice the end of summer looks coming around, people are getting anxious for fall and moving away from tanks and sun dresses.  They moving more towards tops with sleeves and darker deeper colors.  Most people associate denim with pants/bottoms, when I see someone who can pull of denim as a top I am always pleasantly surprised. Our Fashionista effortlessly pulls off this tapered fitted button up top paired with a fitted floral mini skirt. You can find button ups in this style at almost any store but to find one is denim is rare. Our Fashionista actually scored this great top at Goodwill, there's are great bargain for ya. For a little less of a bargain a similar top can be found at J. Crew. I notice a pattern in what I look for when scoping out a Fashionistas for my post and it is definitely versatile pieces. I love looks that can be worn in so many different ways, our Fashionsita put it together in a semi dressed up urban look. But with this simple denim top you can do so many different things, it can be very casual and worn with shorts or even jean bottoms, it can be paired with some cowgirl boots and be given a western look or it can be worn like it is a little dressed up with the floral pattern. Our Fashionista's skirt can also be paired with just about anything it can be worn with a more dressy top or dressed down with the denim top, either way a great skirt for summer. One my favorite things about skirts these days are the pockets, especially when they are barely noticeable like with this skirt. Similar skirts can be purchased at Forever 21.

And of course I am gonna make a great emphasis on the accessories and shoes that compliment the outfit. Of course I always say they make or break an outfit. Her yellow wedges are one of the most eye catching pieces of her look, there actually isn't any yellow in skirt or top but the yellow shoes bring out the greens in the skirt and compliment nicely to the denim. They are also a great summer staple, they are comfortable enough to be able to wear on a normal basis but dressy enough to wear on a night out. Today's Fashionista kept it rather simple with the jewelry, she is only wearing a necklace but a very detailed one, with different colored feathers and charms, it adds a great tribal feel to the look and makes the simple top more flashy. Our Fashionista actually made this necklace herself but there are plenty similar ones that can be found Love 21 (Forever 21's accessory/contemporary store).
