As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, the high street in London, which is basically the portion of Oxford Street between the Tottenham Court Road tube station and the Bond Street tube station, plays host to every fast-fashion store imaginable. The high street is home to the Topshop flagship store, Urban Outfitters, Mango, Dorothy Perkins, Miss Selfridge, Monsoon, House of Fraser and Primark, among others. Needless to say this is a regular must-stop location for the British Fashionista.
This Fashionista that I ran into in Covent Garden has most definitely visited the high street in order to assemble her trendy outfit. Let’s start with her periwinkle maxi dress courtesy of Primark. Primark can be equated to the United States’ version of Forever 21 except bigger. Where Forever 21 might have the same style mini skirt in three colors or patterns, Primark has that mini skirt in 15 colors and patterns. There is also a much larger accessories section and an unbelievable amount of shoes, which makes it the perfect stop for those seasonal items that you don’t intend on having last long. That’s not to say that everything in the store is poor quality as you can see from this Fashionista’s stylish maxi dress. Maxi dresses are one of the handiest garments when it comes to making a cute outfit in minimal time. Simply throw on your dress, add a piece of jewelry or two and a cute pair of shoes and you’re ready to go. Don’t hesitate to try a maxi dress in a bolder color because you can always break it up by adding a neutral cardigan or jacket.
To accessorize, this Fashionista chose a long chain necklace featuring some very feminine feathers from Topshop and simple white high-top sneakers also via Primark. As much as you’d like to walk around in a trendy pair of heels or platform sandals, maneuvering through a city is much easier to do in sneakers. Trust me, your feet will thank you after a long day out.]
