Ever since I saw this Cupcakes and Cashmere outfit post from last summer I have been lusting for a maxi with pleats. The look is crisp and clean yet also gives of a hint of sensuality and bohemian style. With the weather being as perfect as it has been, maxi skirts or dresses are a great piece to incorporate into your spring wardrobe. Maxis are becoming more and more common in day to day apparel so adding detail like pleats gives it an extra hint of flair.
When I spotted this Fashionista on a warm day in Paris, I was excited to take a picture and talk to her about her personal style. Wearing a long black pleated maxi dress, with open toed heels and sunnies, this Fashionista was well put together for a bright day. Not only does the dress have pleats, it is also has mixed media. The crocheted top adds a pop of color and contrasts the rayon pleated bottom. The crocheted top adds a hint of '60s style that gives her outfit a laid back feeling. To finish her look she leaves her hair loose and applies a simple pink lip color to complete a natural, polished look.
If you want to try out a pleated maxi check out this Urban Outfitters maxi in a pastel shade. Incorporate a short pleated mini into your wardrobe as well, like this one from American Apparel. To mix media like this Fashionista did, try out Planet Blue’s crocheted vest and pair it with this simple Anthropologie maxi dress.
