FASHION FROM ABROAD: Stay Warm in Style

It has been unbearably cold the past couple of days. I figured that when I moved to Paris it wouldn’t be so chilly but unfortunately I was wrong. It’s been colder here than it has back in Boston; I guess that just means I take the cold with me wherever I go (sigh). When it is really cold outside and all you want to do is stay in your house and hibernate the last thing that is on your mind is looking fashionable. It’s a hard skill to master when temperatures are low, but it is extremely worthwhile if well executed. So here is the key Fashionistas, a statement jacket.

I spotted this Fashionista near the Musée du Vin. These days everyone is bundled up in scarves and hats and usually a black pea coat. This Fashionista was a breath of fresh air wearing a teal coat and leopard print shoes. The color of her coat adds personality to her outfit and also makes her stand out amongst a sea of black and brown jackets. The gold buttons on her coat add an extra bit of detail that gives her look a little bit more flair. She paired her vibrant jacket with a neutral colored scarf which adds contrast to her ensemble but doesn’t take away from the bright color palette.

Investing in a coat that will make a statement is imperative for the winter months. It will not only add individuality to your daily commute to class but will also be a simple addition to your wardrobe. When it’s cold in the morning all you have to do is put on your jacket and voilà, you’ll instantly look trendy and chic. For a similar style to that of this Fashionista, take a look at this gold buttoned coat from Macy’s. For something a little fancier check out this coat from ModCloth. The fur trim will make it a perfect transition from day to night events.  And for those of you who are a little bit more edgy, check out Free People’s red leather jacket. This is a versatile choice for changing temperatures and different occasions.  So Fashionistas, find a vibrant jacket and let the color do all the talking!
