FASHION NEWS: Drama in McQueen’s court, and Jean Paul Gaultier for Target.

“Alexander McQueen is a showman with very high expectations for fashion. He knows how to cut a dress, a jacket and a pair of pants with the best of them, but that's not enough for him. He also wants fashion to have weight and content and depth, so he puts on presentations — spectacles, really — of his collections that aim to have the punch of art and that are sometimes political, sociological, shocking and scary.”

While you many of you were gallivanting across the country on fun family trips, and soaking up the goodness of the holiday season, Mr. McQueen was dealing with his own drama this December. Model Abby Lee Kershaw took one look at his Spring 2010 shoes, and immediately refused to walk the show. Would you, dear readers, don these 10 inch heel creations and strut down a runway? See  the shoes that caused a stir in the picture below.

Though Alexander McQueen items are a staple in department stores Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus, he recently collaborated with Target to design a McQ line of apparel last year.  (Who knew??)

McQueen, who was second in Target’s Designer Collaborations Series (following Anna Sui), contributed to such extraordinary success with the line, that it prompted Target to pair with Jean Paul Gaultier this coming spring! His Target collection is set to release in early March—but until then, enjoy these looks off the runway from Jean Paul Gaultier’s Spring 2010 line!!

Fun Fact: Alexander McQueen has a passion for scuba diving; a hobby, which he reported to Nick Knight of Show Studio evidently influenced many of his designs, particularly in his October 2009 Fashion Show, “Plato’s Atlantis.”
