FASHION NEWS: FASHION WEEK IN YOUR CITY

When I think of Fashion Week, I think of five major cities: New York, Paris, Milan, Los Angeles and London. Every fashion lover knows the big name designers who showcase their work on the runways and the amount of attention they receive after the shows. Little did I know that not just these large metropolitan cities hold Fashion Weeks that even some cities that College Fashionistas reside in have Fashion Weeks that are easily accessible.

Phoenix Fashion Week will be held October 1st- October 3rd and will house established, emerging and accessory designers. If you go to Arizona State University you’re in luck, because unlike the high profile Fashion Weeks, tickets are attainable.

Portland Fashion Week will be held October 7th-11th and will focus on eco-responsible fashion coming from independent designers. Portland is the home to modern art, design and urban development and onlookers will be able to see how fashion forward this city truly is. Now if you go to school at the University of Oregon, Portland is only a quick drive away and after reviewing some of the designers collections it’s worth the road trip.

Detroit recently wrapped up their Fashion Week, but Michigan State Fashionistas and University of Michigan Fashionistas keep your ears open for further shows come spring time.

Wisconsin Fashion Week was a hit in May 2009 where an Avant-Garde exhibition was shown followed by runway shows and seminars on styling tips for your body shape. Rumor has it that there may be another Fashion Week coming soon from this city so Wisconsin Fashionistas stay in the know about this!

West Coast Fashionistas LA Fashion Week is right around the corner and full of runway shows, celebrity parties and hot new trends. Dress to impress, I know I will.

Style On,

Amy
