FASHION NEWS: It’s beginning to look a lot like…

…the holiday season in New York City. And, in my opinion, there is nothing better. The abundance of sparkling white lights, Santas on every street corner, ice skating at Rockefellar Center under a giant Christmas tree, and, of course, SHOPPING!

I love the feeling of a successful day of holiday shopping. Walking out of the store with your bags of goodies swishing at your sides, your face glowing from the excitement. Unfortunately, sometimes shopping trips aren’t so successful. Exiting your local mall or shopping center into a bleak, gray parking lot doesn’t make you feel any better. Which is why, here in Manhattan, we are so lucky to have the great holiday window displays put on by stores like Macy’s, Lord & Taylor, and, the one I am most excited to see this year, Barney’s, to pick up our spirits.

Unveiled this past Monday night, November 16, Barney’s 2009 Holiday Window Displays celebrate Saturday Night Live’s 35th Birthday. Created out of paper mache by Simon Doonan, Creative Director of Barney’s New York, and his team, the windows portray favorite SNL skits through the years, including “Coneheads” and “Weekend Update.”

So, the next time you are on 5th Ave and in the holiday spirit, or just in the mood for a good laugh, head on over to Barney’s and check out the windows.
