FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Colleen McCormick

This week’s Fashionista finds the perfect combination of fur and floral with her winter-meets-spring ensemble. She finds often the best outfits are the ones that take courage to wear, and her style certainly reflects this stylish spunk.
Name: Mary Colleen McCormick
Major: Visual Art and Communications
Year: Senior
CollegeFashionista: What aspects of your personality reflect through the way you dress?
Colleen McCormick: I consider myself a strange and creative person so I try and get funky with the clothes I pick out. I layer a lot so it’s all about weird combinations.
CF: Are there any style statements you’ve been wanting to try out this season?
CM: Faux fur coats. I bought this dark green coat that I’ve been trying to wear often but it’s such a bold statement it’s hard to work up the courage to wear it sometimes.
CF: If you had to whittle down your wardrobe to five items what would they be?
CM: Motorcyle pants, combat boots, a floral shirt, a denim vest and an infinity scarf.
CF: If you could borrow from anyone’s closet, who would it be?
CM: Ellie Goulding.
CF: Describe your personal style in three words.
CM: Girly, biker, earthy.
CF: What do you like most about fashion?
CM: It’s one of my favorite hobbies. I have the opportunity to dress up every morning and it doesn’t stop there. I get to wear my creation for the rest of the day. It’s something that motivates me to get out of bed.
How To: Get This Fashionista’s look by pairing a whimsical print with this season’s favorite fur vest. For a more conservative version, pair the vest with nautical stripes or a solid top.
