FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Juliana Heutz

Fashion in the summertime is a great time to showcase your simpler style. With the need for less substance, you are able to wear just a few pieces that truly express your fashion sense. For a few seasons now, colored denim has been trending, but a fun twist on this super cute look has now made its way into the fashion scene—printed denim. I spotted this Fashionista in her feminine floral denim shorts and metallic Sperry Top-Siders and was immediately drawn to her fresh summer style. Paired with a neutral top, this look is a fun spin on your basic shorts and a T-shirt!

Name: Juliana Heutz

Year: Sophomore

Major: Liberal Arts

CollegeFashionista: How would you describe your style?

Juliana Heutz: I would describe my style as more preppy/classy looking. Also, it depends on how I feel for the day.

CF: What stores do you usually shop in?

JH: Forever 21, American Apparel, and Topshop.

CF: Is there someone or something that inspires your style?

JH: I’m usually drawn to Kourtney Kardashian’s wardrobe. She definitely gives me new ideas.

CF: What trend do you think you’ll be wearing a lot of this summer?

JH: I already have a very nautical mindset for this summer, but I also love anything high-waisted.

CF: In your opinion, what is a major fashion faux pas?

JH: I don’t believe in a faux pas. The biggest fashion faux pas is going against yourself and trying to be something you’re not. Fashion is what you make with your clothes, so always be yourself.

How To: Don’t be afraid to get a little funky with your denim selection! Try a fun print or pattern on your shorts and jeans. Floral patterns can be overwhelming and bold, so opt for a more subtle color palette with a neutral tank top and you’ll be on your way to sporting this adorable look yourself. Add a nautical piece with an edgy spin, like this pair of metallic Sperry Top-Siders. Once you have put all of the pieces together, this summer style can easily transform from day to night with the addition of a cozy cardigan!
