Let’s talk about sexy work clothes. I find it very exciting when I see someone taking risks and stepping out of the “safe” look, which is why I had to feature today’s Fashionista, who by the way happens to be a bombshell! She is the perfect example of how sexy elements can be incorporated into your work closet. It’s not about being literal and wearing micro-mini-skirts – it’s about knowing what to show off in the proper way. Today’s Fashionista is wearing a Dolce&Gabbana fitted dress in a neutral shade of beige. The length of the dress is perfect for work, just below her mid-thigh. The flattering fit of her dress adds that element of sexiness, and the neutral color balances her look for a sophisticated summer color choice. The same dress in a vibrant red would probably be too much heat for the office, so it’s all about finding the right balance. For example, If you decide to wear red for work, it’ll probably have to be in a much more relaxed silhouette. To learn more about today’s Fashionista please read below!

Name: Justina Salinas

Major: Graphic Design/E-Commerce Marketing and Management

Year: Senior

CollegeFashionista: How would you describe your style?

Justina Salinas: My style is very versatile, mostly because I love to dress according to how I feel. I can go from wearing a very flirty dress to denim shorts and a cropped top.

CF: What shopping advice could you give Fashionistas for this summer?

JS: When I go shopping, I have a little trick to determine whether I really want something or not. If I find something I like, yet I’m not sure, I will leave it and come back if I still want it after a couple of days. This helps me stay within my budget while still finding great additions to my closet!

CF: Where do you normally shop?

JS: I love to do online shopping, especially at Tobi and LuLu’s. If I had to pick a store, I’d say Nordstrom is among my top choices.

CF: What is your favorite trend at the moment?

JS: I recently bought a bright red lipstick after seeing it in several fashion magazines. It looks great with neutral colors and a very subtle eye makeup.

What’s your favorite season for fashion? Why?

JS: I really love fall and winter, mostly because of the weather. Colder days allow for more options when it comes to layering or mix-matching your clothes.

How To: Get this Fashionista’s sexy neutral look by finding a great fitted dress in a neutral shade. Remember to pick out the neutral color that best fits your complexion and hair color. Today’s Fashionista looks great with her creamy khaki dress because it complements her summer-tanned skin. If you have a paler complexion and blonde hair, try navy or deep blue for a pop of color! I happen to fall in between pale and tan, so I usually go for black dresses to highlight my light brown hair. Keep in mind that lighter colors tend to be less forgiving when it comes to fit and darker shades have a slimming effect. Neutrals can definitely be a good pick for summer so try out different shades to find the best one for you.
