While we left the major grunge era back in the ’90s, we still see pieces popping up that reflect the need to rebel and do dangerous things. No matter what genre of fashion you identify yourself with, a little leather, spikes and black accessories can give us the edge that even the good girls need at times. This Fashionista keeps it casual in her basic summer tank and jean shorts, but her black Converse sneakers and daring pixie cut are what give her outfit that extra punch.
Name: Noel Bryant
CollegeFashionista: When did you first become interested in clothing as more than just a necessity?
Noel Bryant: I can honestly say I don’t view clothes as just a necessity, but I’m not too far past that. I started to see them as more of a statement when I hit college.
CF: What are your favorite types of stores?
NB: I love thrift stores because they have cheap clothing that is already broken in. I like things that fit comfortably.
CF: What is your favorite item in your closet?
NB: I have a pair of hip-hop sweatpants that I absolutely love.
CF: What is your favorite accessory?
NB: I’m not a big accessory person, but I have meaningful rings that I wear and some simple jewelry in my piercings.
How To: This look is something almost anyone can pull off if done correctly. It mainly involves items you already own, which makes for a great last minute outfit for shopping with friends, attending a barbecue or just going to class. All you need is your favorite pair of jean shorts, a comfortable tank and a pair of edgy sneakers. Finish it off with some layered bracelets and rings, along with a slouchy tote. If you’re really bold, go for the pixie cut like this Fashionista and make it your best accessory!
