Do you know anyone who wants to be fashion designer? Do you think that you could be the next winner of Project Runway? After volunteering at a local co-op store, this week’s Fashionista enjoys working on her portfolio and getting ready for a career as a fashion designer. Her creative and eclectic style will definitely bring new ideas to the fashion industry. Emotions and moods are very important to her, so let’s explore how her sunny demeanor influences her style.

Name: Sadae Hori

Major: Fashion Design

Year: Freshmen

CollegeFashionista: Where did you get each piece of your outfit?

Sadae Hori: I got my overalls and yellow cross-body bag from 579. My flowy striped top is from Goodwill. I love shopping there. All of my accessories are from Charlotte Russe.

CF: What are some fashion pieces that you must have in your summer wardrobe?

SH: My style really depends on my mood. So, whatever I am feeling when I open my closet is the biggest factor that influences what I wear. That goes for any season, including summer. But I definitely need to have a good pairs of denim shorts and tank tops during this weather.

CF: Describe your style in three words.

SH: Statement, rebellious and feminine.

CF: What is your dream fashion job? Why?

SH: Fashion Designer! Every time I go into a store I see a clothing piece and figure out a way to reinvent it and redesign it. I have so many ideas, I just can’t wait to get in there and start working on them.

CF: If you could work with any fashion designer, who would it be? Why?

SH: Mondo Guerra from Project Runway. His pieces are always “out there” and they always stand out, just like mine. I absolutely love his style because it definitely isn’t ordinary. I enjoy mixing prints and he is the master at that. It would be awesome if I could one day collaborate with him.

How To: To get this thrifted, rebellious look, buy a chic pair of overalls. Wear it over a loose striped tee and add a yellow cross-body bag. Finish it off with striped pumps and you are ready for a cool summer day!
