As this Fashionista walked up in a crowd of people, I had to do a double take. Her black dress and Dr. Martens gave her look a casual feel. But the center of her dress really made her stand out: the enlarged cat was so adorable and chic! It was the best cat dress I had ever seen! And there are ton of cat dresses out there. There was no doubt in my mind that this was the Fashionista of the week!
Name: Tess Watson
Major: Accounting, Finance and International Business
Year: Senior

CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing today and where did you get your outfit from?
Tess Watson: The dress is from H&M, the shoes are Dr. Martens and the bracelet is from Urban Outfitters. The backpack is actually from Target. They have some really cool stuff sometimes. You just have to look for it!

CF: Where are some of your favorite places to shop?
TW: My favorite store is called Wasteland. It’s on Haight in San Francisco. I get a new wardrobe every time I visit and they have an online store too. I shop a lot at NASTY GAL, Topshop and ASOS, as well.
CF: I love your cat dress, what inspired you to wear that today?
TW: I wear it when I’m feeling spunky, and I’ve got to appreciate the warm weather while it’s still here! It was an impulse buy this summer in Denver when I stumbled on a huge H&M store downtown when I was walking home from dinner. My boyfriend begged me not to buy it but I get compliments on it all the time.
CF: What are your favorite go-to pieces in your closet?
TW: I just got some new skinny acid wash jeans that I love. If I’m going out, you can always find me in high-waisted shorts and a crop top

CF: Where do you get your fashion inspiration from?
TW: I love the fashion magazine NYLON. It keeps me up to date on new trends, plus new music and movies!

CF: What are some trends you’ve seen on campus that you absolutely adore?
TW: I love the round sunglasses. I lost mine last weekend in the lake but I’m searching for a new pair!

CF: What style advice do you have for the readers?
TW: Just be yourself when it comes to fashion. Wear what you like and what you’re comfortable in. Conforming to every trend just makes you a part of the crowd. Plus it’s exhausting.
How To:  Animal statement dresses are fun and very versatile. If you want to recreate this look, you can find your favorite pair of Dr. Martins and wear an outstanding cat dress. On colder days, you can always pair the dress with a cute jacket. But get creative and make this dress your own with your favorite accessories, backpack and shoes! Most importantly, have fun with it! Who knows, you might even want to try a fox dress.
