I was drawn to this Fashionista for her layering technique complimented by her use of a neutral color pallet. Accompanied by the loose layering of the crop top and skirt are the combat boots to toughen up the look a bit. While it is the middle of May, and tights should not be a necessity, this Fashionista embraces the weather with her patterned tights to give the simplistic outfit more dimension. Whether it’s the mixing of brown and black, the pop of a coral accessory, or the military trend peaking through, this Fashionista’s outfit is the epitome of casual cool.
Name: Alex Kaufmann
Year: Junior
Major: Communication Studies and Disorders
CollegeFashionista: Where are your favorite places to shop?
Alex Kaufmann: I typically like to shop in little boutiques or vintage stores. I prefer those to chain stores because everyone tends to buy the same pieces from chain stores. The mainstream stores I tend to shop at are H & M, Nordstrom, and Urban Outfitters.
CF: What trend are you looking most forward to wearing for summer?
AK: I am excited to wear all of my billowing pieces and new maxi dresses. I also plan on taking full advantage of my crop tops.
CF: How would you define your own personal style?
AK: I tend to dress with a more “downtown” vibe with a little bohemian thrown in there. My style can transition easily from day to night by just switching my day shoes to a pair of heels.
How To: For a skirt like Alex’s this white loose See by Chloé would look perfect with a cropped sweater. Alex was right on point when she mentioned maxi dresses for the summer season, and this casual knit one is perfect for the hot weather. For the chillier nights the maxi dress can be worn with a cardigan and combat boots, like the pair this Fashionista is wearing.
