After a semester of spotlighting BU’s Fashionistas/os I have seen fall and winter’s most popular trends interpreted in different ways. A few of my favorites have been animal print, faux fur and camel colored leather. I spotted this Fashionista on Commonwealth Avenue, and was instantly drawn to her casually glamorous look. From the leopard print loafer to the fur vest and camel colored jacket, she mastered a few of this season’s hottest trends.
Name: Alexa Brassard

Year: Senior
CollegeFashionista: How would you describe your style in 3 words?
Alexa Brassard: Trendy, comfortable, and unique.
CF: What is your favorite part of your outfit?
AB: My loafers. They are from Thom Brown on Newbury Street.
CF: Who or what inspires your style?
AB: I would say the celebrity world inspires my style. I’m a big fan of Kim Kardashian’s style, and basically anyone who is doing something different.
CF: Where do you like to shop in Boston?
AB: I love Intermix, but I can’t shop there all the time so I go to T.J. Maxx Runway in Newton and Cambridge. I’m a big bargain shopper.
How To: To get this Fashionista’s look start out with a basic tee and a regular wash skinny jeans as the foundations of the outfit. Next, tap into vintage-inspired menswear with a pinstripe waistcoat vest such as this one by MANGO. Her vest is by Nanette Lepore, and her fur vest is by Cue. Try her bold styling tip of layering a vest on top of a vest. If this isn’t for you, then try a faux fur stole over the waistcoat vest. She purchased her jacket at Forever 21. Try the camel color in leather to add another element of texture to your look. Get your hands on these leopard print loafers by TopShop to complete this look.
