This week’s Fashionista, Allison Bader, finds her niche with simple staples and bright hues. She gains inspiration from her own artwork along with the bustling sidewalks of New York City. Originally from Philadelphia, Bader’s wardrobe is a smorgasbord of urban inspiration.

This week, Bader pairs a Parisian inspired tee with distressed gray denim and a crème-colored belt. Accented with studded combat boots and a coordinating leather jacket, Allison’s ensemble mixes soft staples with edgy accessories to paint a portrait boldness and balance. Finished with a vintage leather messenger bag, this Fashionista’s character-rich combination is not only simple, but stylish as well.

Name: Allison Bader

Major: Double major in General Science and Visual Art

Year: Junior

CollegeFashionista: Where do you usually find your style inspiration?

Allison Bader: I just kind of look at what other people are wearing, and, if I like it, I’ll try and do something similar with my won twist. I don’t really look at trends in fashion, I just look at what I thinks look good and what reflects my personality.

CF: Has living in an urban area influenced your style at all?

AB: Yes it has, there’s a lot of really different people with different styles so there is more to draw from.

CF: As a visual arts major, do you find that your work ever influences the way you dress?

AB: Yes. I really like color, and a lot of my paintings have to do with color and the experimentation of color, so I think I also kind of reflect that in the way I dress. I have a few really vibrant pieces because I’m always drawn to bright colors.

CF: Do you have any fashion advice for college students in search of their personal style?

AB: Wear what you like and what you find to be comfortable. If you’re not confident and comfortable in what you’re wearing it’s not gonna look good on you. Just do what you want to do. Be true to you.

CF: What do you feel most confident wearing?

AB: I usually feel most confident in a pair of jeans that fit really well and just a simple, flattering top that makes the outfit kind of effortless.

CF: Is there a staple piece or pieces in your closet that you couldn’t go without?

AB: I really like my plain white T-shirts, or just very simple pieces that can pair well with lots of different things. And, I really like shoes.

CF: What's an addition you'd like to make to your closet at the moment?

AB: I think it would be nice to go for some bolder things because, right now, I have a lot of pieces that go with anything so it would be nice to throw some really unique pieces in there. Rainboots would really nice too.

How To: Get this Fashionista's look by pairing a breezy basic T-shirt with a bold leather jacket, or accenting an understated ensemble with edgy footwear.
