FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Amelia Chen

Neutrals are amazing, but pops of color make an outfit exciting! I saw this fashionista hanging out on the plaza and I was immediately drawn to her red lip and bright turquoise jewelry. Yet it was her gauzy top, flowery shorts and awesome pink velvet scrunchie that made me die to know more about this fashionista!

Name: Amelia Chen

Year: Sophomore

Major: Biology

CollegeFashionista: What inspired your look today?

Amelia Chen: Right now, I don't have that much in my dorm since I didn't bring back a lot of my clothing, so my skort was just kind of the last thing in my bottoms drawer that I hadn't worn yet. As for my top, it is actually the cami I've been wearing to sleep in for the past few weeks! I couldn't find another top that matched the way I wanted it to. My accessories are always sort of thrown on before I leave the dorm because my fingers feel to naked without them.

CF: What do you think are the essentials to every college student's wardrobe?

AC: Accessories definitely equal essentials. A standout cardigan for layering purposes or staying warm in the freezing buildings. Sweats and at least one pinny. And…something trendy, something classic, something daring.

CF: Where are some of your favorite places to shop in the triangle area?

AC: Two-thirds of my closet is composed of Urban Outfitters. Typical places are Forever 21 and H&M, and I love thrifting.

CF: Who are your top three fashion idols? Why?

AC: Rumi Neely of fashiontoast, whom my friend introduced me to, because she is fearless and has a way of turning otherwise “slutty” clothing into “edgy” ensembles. Joellen of joellenlove because she can pull of things that I wish I could. Kathleen of inspirafashion because I am pretty sure I am obsessed with every single one of her outfits.
