FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Ashley Ehmig

There was something irresistibly alluring about this Fashionista’s jacket that invited me closer to the rest of her sophisticated look. It had a mysterious yet classical appeal that instantaneously reminded me of my mother’s beloved coat. My mother’s was a lavish wool coat she got in London during her college years, umpteen years ago. Flashing forward a generation, Ashley wears an updated go-to winter coat with a faux fur accent. She accompanies the coat with a cable knitted top that is both comfortable and refined. This top is a great winter staple; it keeps warm and its neutral color can blend perfectly with the remains of any outfit. She pairs her top with a sturdy skirt, which becomes weather durable when worn with tights. The skirt’s simplicity enables unusual tight wear, allowing for pattern or design of some sort. Her combat boots provide contrast and bring a masculine edge to the softness of her look. She finishes off the look with feather earrings which contribute nicely to the neutral color scheme.

Ashley Ehmig: I would have to say girly yet grungy, a bit badass.

How To: To imitate a look like Ashley’s, find a cloak-like coat that has an accent, like faux fur, around the hood. Find a seasonal cable knit top and accompany it with a simple skirt to highlight the shirt’s knitted value. Add a sheer tight with domineering combat boots and finish it off with an accessory, like light feather earrings.
