With all of the trees almost stripped of their color in the middle of November, it is easy for Fashionistas to lose inspiration when it comes to color and originality. When I spotted this Fashionista one afternoon, she instantly lifted my mood by the way her positive energy was shown through her choice of accessories. In the fall and more mild months of winter, it is common to just stick to simple neutral pieces because of their ease and simplicity. This is a fine attitude to accept; however, there are ways to spice up this winter basic. By adding a pop of color with a scarf and a sense of layering with a light vest, you can transform from an ordinary student to a stand out Fashionista.

CollegeFashionista: What is your most prized possession in your closet?
Blair Kalichman: Definitely my Frye boots — I’m obsessed. They were my first pair of leather boots and I hope they’ll be my last! They have never failed to pull an outfit together at the last minute and undeniably match with every single item in my wardrobe.
CF: Do you have any style icons?
BK: My style icons are Lauren Conrad, Jennifer Aniston and Vanessa Hudgens. I know this seems like a peculiar combo, but I feel like they all know how to look pretty, classy, comfortable and effortless all at the same time.
CF: What is your go-to outfit for class?
BK: My go-to outfit for class right now is my light chambray shirt, thick black leggings, my Madewell black fur vest and my Frye boots. I love mixing up textures and patterns while still looking semi-put together. This outfit is so easy for those fall mornings when I wake up late and cold, which are pretty much every morning.
CF: Where is your favorite place to shop?
BK: I love to shop online, especially ASOS, TOBI, NASTY GAL, Urban Outfitters and Piperlime. The websites are much less stressful than flipping through racks at a store and I just can’t shy away from the daily sales and promotion emails.
How To: It’s easy to score this Fashionista’s casual and put together fall outfit. Stick to classic fall pieces like oversized sweaters and a pair of dark jeans. One of my favorite places to shop for sweaters is Zara because they have sweaters available in neutral colors with little details and embellishments to make you stand out as a Fashionista. Pair a sweater with a practical winter vest like this one from Patagonia and you’ll be ready for any fall day.
