I find that one of the things with summer style is being unique and creative. Because everyone is trying to avoid the heat, a lot of this creativity and uniqueness that go into making an outfit is lost by the need to stay cool. This Fashionista manages to be innovative and stylish while wearing just shorts and a printed top by adding fun accessories.

CollegeFashionista: How would you describe your style?
Brianna McGurrin: I can never describe my style in just one word because it's really how I’m feeling when I get dressed that day. I love the boho look but I tend to take a more modern and simple approach by adding pops of color or only focusing on one piece of my outfit.
CF: What three things are on your summer shopping list?
BM: A printed maxi dress, a pair of nude wedges, and some floral scarves.
CF: What item do you think every Fashionista should own for summer?
BM: I think every Fashionista this summer should own at least one nautical top that can be dressed up or down by wearing it over a bathing suit with shorts or tucked into a skirt.
CF: Where do you look for style advice?
BM: Most of my style advice comes from reading magazines and seeing how to use the clothes that I already own to fit this season's style. I like to look at what celebrities are wearing and try to apply it to my own style.
How To: Take a basic pair of neutral chino shorts (I usually opt for J.Crew) and pair with a fun, trendy top. This Fashionista chooses a bold print in one of summer’s hottest colors, coral. This top has an open scoop back, which adds an unexpected twist to the outfit. Throw on a pair of wedges, like these from Gap and bold accessories in opposing colors. Don’t forget a pair of sunnies like these from A.OK, and you are good to go!
