Subject: Bridget Rassmuson

Major: English

Year: Sophomore

CollegeFashionista: What are you most excited about for fall?

Bridget Rasmusson: Besides hiking, pumpkin pie, and putting cinnamon on almost everything I eat, I’m really excited for the weather to give me reason to wear this cream-colored, three quarter-sleeved coat I picked up from a consignment shop back in July.

CF: What inspires your style?

BR: I’m inspired by loads of random things — the pop of burgundy lipstick I saw on a Riteaid cashier the other day, the gigantic gemmed clip-on earrings my best friend gifted me with for my birthday, my brother’s flannel button-downs, strangers walking down the street — you name it! I like floral prints, I like color, and I like classic elements.

CF: Where do you like to shop?

BR: A staggering majority of my clothes actually come from Good Will. You could walk in with a twenty-dollar bill and walk out with a cheetah-printed blouse, a black velvet party dress, two studded belts, and a vintage T-shirt. To me, that’s insanely incredible. I love the idea of creating new from old — the famed “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure” theory.

CF: If you could raid anyone's closet whose would it be?

BR: I would have to steal heavily from Rachel Bilson. She creates the appearance of effortless sophistication and never looks over-polished in her Ray-bans, beautiful cocktail dresses, and uniquely tailored blazers.

How To: Zara’s collection of trench coats, boxy coats, winter coats, just scream an infinite desire to make you want to crawl into the store! Grab a coat from there, like this Fashionista visit a consignment shop, pull a heavy knit sweater or too preferably cropped. Free People and Forever 21 would be your best bet, sticking with the neutral hues to keep the flow of colors pretty to the eye. Boots! Steve Madden is stocked up with tie-up booties! Lastly, accessories….go simple or go big, the rest is your choice to make the outfit your own!
