FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Carolyn Morris

We’ve been blessed with BEAUTIFUL weather this past week in Madison. Literally, I have been wearing shorts or a dress for the past three days and it’s October! (I better stop talking about it though before I jinx it for myself and the rest of the Madison population). This Fashionista is one to die for. She’s bouncy and excited and her personality exudes through all of her fashion choices. Read on and you’ll see this Fashionita knows what she wants and makes sure her fashion sense copies that!

Name: Carolyn Morris

Year: Senior

Major: Communication Arts

CollegeFashionista: How has living in Madison influenced your style?

Carolyn Morris: Living in Madison has greatly influenced my style, being a native of Wisconsin I am one to know that the fashion world is not nearly as expansive as it is in larger cities. Coming to Madison I have been introduced to the variety of eclectic stores that inhabit State Street. I love that you can walk down the street and see variety of styles. I also enjoy seeing multiple people wear the same piece in very different ways. To me style is portrayed in the way various people wear the same piece, as this is when you see their personality reflected most in their style.

CF: Who is your style icon?

CM: I do not have one particular style icon, however I tend to draw most of my inspiration from the various fashion blogs out there today. One of my favorites right now is “because im addicted.” I love the various posts that mix classic styles with edgy accessories. Mixing these elements gives a timeless outfit a modern touch.

CF: How would you describe your style?

CM: I love very classic silhouettes and tend to stick to neutral colors, in my attempt to spice it up a bit I have found a love for the colored denim trend. And have purchased multiple shades of pink shorts this past summer, and recently a pair of wine-colored skinny’s (as pictured).

CF: Where do you get your fashion fix?

CM: I get my fashion fixes from BOP, a store which has also been a major influence on my growing love for fashion and personal style. Because Madison is a somewhat isolated city, especially for those without a car, I have become quite the online shopper since moving here. This is where my appreciation for BOP, and its online counterpart shopbop.com has come from. Another plus to the website is the speedy delivery service, making Madison, WI three days away from a great fashion find.

CF: What is your current fashion obsession?

CM: My current fashion obsession is a pair of chunky open toe velvet heeled pumps. I recently purchased them and have been hoping for the winter weather to hold off a bit longer so I can enjoy wearing them. However, I am also looking forward to pairing them with a pair of knit tights in the colder weather.

How To: The fur lined vest this Fashionista is wearing is a great transitional piece if you don’t want to pull out your full on fall fur coats. Find one here!
