I was so happy to see this Fashionista in the bookstore one early morning and just had to talk to her. Her easy relaxed outfit combined grays, browns, along with pops of color in her chunky cardigan. The look was very unexpected but each piece to her outfit had a certain kind of earthy tone that really pulled her look together. Along with the earthy tones, this Fashionista threw in an unexpected piece: a saddle brown leather belt cinched at the waistline to match her boots.

CollegeFashionista: What are some of your favorite stores to shop at?
Casey Barrett: I love Forever 21, they have such great stuff and at really great prices especially since I’m on a budget.
CF: Since you’re from Philadelphia, I can imagine the shopping is a lot different here in New York. What are some of your favorite city things that influence your style?
CB: I’ve recently picked up thrift shopping as one of my favorite activities. In Philadelphia we have a store called Buffalo Exchange and I was psyched that there’s one in the city. There are so many vintage thrift shops in New York I haven’t gotten a chance to get to all of them yet!
CF: What has been your favorite trend through fall that you continue to wear now?
CB: Through the fall I really liked wearing tights with shorts or high waisted skirts and I still try to wear tights as much as possible — they’re definitely my thing.
CF: If you could sum up your style in one sentence what would it be?
CB: “I dress the way that I want to and what I’m comfortable in while still dressing on trend.”
How To: To imitate this Fashionista’s look start off with a pair of dark colored jeans or leggings to offset any lighter color piece in the outfit. Fringe boots have been huge this season and are a great alternative to your average leather riding boots. I would recommend Minnetonka’s brand of moccasins/boots — not only are they comfortable but they last a long time and are definitely worth the investment. Finish off your look with a chunky sweater and you’re ready for class!
