FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Ceci Lamonica

As the school year begins and fall approaches, one might think it’s time to put away dresses and bright colors in exchange for chunky knits and sweaters in deep greens and plums. While some of us eagerly anticipate cooler temperatures, this Fashionista’s outfit reminds us to look on the bright side. This Fashionista is rocking a recent trend: the maxi dress. She pairs her bright, colorful dress with a yellow bag showing that one doesn’t need to match every detail of an outfit. Many designers like Dolce&Gabbana have featured mixing different colors and prints in their upcoming fall collection.

Name: Ceci Lamonica

Year: Junior

Major: International Studies & Health and Human Studies

CollegeFashionista: Tell me about your outfit.

Ceci Lamonica: I bought this dress about a month ago simply because I loved the colors. The pink, purple, and turquoise really caught my eye. I also thought it’d be versatile enough to wear shopping, to dinner or class. My bag is vintage and I wear it all the time. It’s one of my favorites!

CF: Who/what is your inspiration for fashion?

CL: My main inspiration for fashion would probably be different decades like the ‘70s. A lot of older trends are coming back. I love the hippie/bohemian look.

CF: What is your favorite brand or store to shop at? Why?

CL: I really like Urban Outfitters. They have cute and pretty affordable clothes for a college student on a budget.

How To: Don’t be afraid of mixing and matching colors. It’s very expressive and fun way to show your style. Try pairing a bright patterned dress or top with unexpected accessories. Wear bright blue necklace and a yellow bag together. Also, don’t think maxi dresses are just a summer trend. Many prints and colors are perfect for the fall weather that’s to come!
