This week’s Fashionista spotlight shines on sophomore Darleen Eiermann. As a leggy college athlete, Eirmann has learned how to turn trends on their heads to match her lengthy inseam and provide personal flair.
Eirmann’s go-to look usually consists of streamline denim or leggings contrasted with a cozy oversized sweater or tunic, a combination that not only flatters her figure but also lend itself to comfort and convenience during a jam-packed weekly schedule. Also drawn to accessories like infinity scarves and riding boots, this Fashionista’s chilly weather wardrobe is certainly not lacking in charm.
To find out what inspires Eiermann’s inner Fashionista, CollegeFashionista picks her brain about the past, present and personal style.
Name: Darleen Eiermann
CollegeFashionista: What is your favorite season to dress for and why?
Darleen Eirmann: Porbably winter because I like to wear boots pretty much every day.
CF: What is your favorite trend past or present?
DE: I really like scarves. I still like to wear scarves a lot.
CF: If you had to whittle down your wardrobe to five, what would they be?
DE: Leggings, my chunky sweater, a pair of jeans, my watch, and my boots.
CF: What’s the best style advice you’ve ever received?
DE: My mom once told me that flare jeans don’t look good on anybody. It’s probably just because they were always too short for my legs, and she knew I needed to wear something different.
CF: How has New York influenced your style?
DE: I guess it’s more updated. Like in high school, I never really paid too much attention to trends. I just sort of wore what I wanted. But now I know what looks good and what looks good now. So I’ve definitely learned how to dress in a way that’s more appropriate for the setting.
CF: Do you have any fashion advice for college students in search of their personal style?
DE: Wear whatever makes you feel good. Everybody has a different style and different body types so it’s important hat you just feel comfortable and confident in what you’re wearing.
