It's summer in the city and I'm loving all the Fashionistas/os who are coming out of their shells! New York is an amazing city for fashion and celebrating everyone's individuality. People-watching is definitely one of the best things to do, especially around the trendier neighborhoods like SoHo and TriBeCa. I found this Fashionista wandering Union Square and I couldn't help but stare. I was definitely attracted to her shorts but I also love her beautiful orange hair! For tips on how to create a sweet and simple summer outfit, take note below.
Name: Erika Fox
Major: Business & Commerce
Year: Junior
CollegeFashionista: What most inspires your day-to-day style?
Erika Fox: It depends what I am doing on any particular day. At the moment, I am interning at a fashion PR company in Manhattan, so I have the freedom to dress up each day, which I love. Since I have moved to NY, I have been getting so much inspiration from people on the streets, subway, etc. The style is so interesting over here.
CF: What's the best thing to wear to an internship in the city?
EF: Something which makes you stand out a little and also something which is comfortable. Living in New York involves a lot of walking! For example, I can wear a pleated skirt, a sleeveless shirt and some statement jewelry.
CF: What music have you been listening to lately?
EF: At the moment, I am a big fan of Rita Ora. I love her music and of course, her style is also amazing.
CF: What is your favorite piece in your closet and why?
EF: My favorite piece at the moment is my pair of black Chelsea boots. They have a little heel but are still so so comfortable. They are the perfect city boots.
How To: Try something sheer and pair it up with cute jean shorts. If you're running around for your internship, definitely opt for a bigger cross-body bag that'll hold your makeup, metro card and laptop. Add long necklaces and a light color of nail polish. This season is seeing a lot of pastels so you might want to go with this option. If you get the chance, check out her blog!
