FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Heather Jackson

Arizona State University’s downtown Phoenix campus gets the best of both worlds. Its urban atmosphere is a nice getaway for commuting students from Tempe, West or Polytechnic campus. Overall, diverse groups of people make up the community. Professionals, students, educators and travelers roam the campus, making it the perfect location for trend setting fashion and ideas. Fashionista Heather Jackson was making her way through campus when I approached her to capture her ensemble. She was confident in her dress and shared some fashion advice for ASU Fashionista/os.

Name: Heather Jackson

Year: Junior

Major: Journalism (Broadcasting)

College Fashionista: What’s your latest go-to outfit?

Heather Jackson: My new ASU Victoria Secret yoga pants because they’re really comfortable, and a cute blouse. If it’s a business day I’ll wear cute slacks with a nice blouse.

CF: Who are your fashion inspirations?

HJ: I love M.I.A. She’s so out there and amazing. I don’t really like Rihanna but her fashion sense is amazing.

CF: Where do you shop?

HJ: New York & Company is one of my favorites because I have to dress professional for my internship and Cronkite [school]. Charlotte Russe, Bakers Shoes, Forever 21, Urban Outfitters and exchange stores like Buffalo Exchange and Sunset Clothing Exchange. I love vintage stuff.

CF: What’s your style advice to fellow classmates?

HJ: Find your inner self. Fall in love with your personality. It’ll shine through everything you wear. I always wear different things depending on how I feel that day. Figure out what you like to do and match that to your style. It’ll fall into place.

How To: Jackson admits to being an admirer of Rihanna’s taste in clothing. Like Jackson, many of us look to inspiration from our favorite celebrity or artist. Boutiques.com is a Google creation that allows its users to search for pieces based on unique searches, such as your favorite designer or an overall theme such as “romantic.” For a look similar to Jackson’s, check out Boutiques’ Trend: boho for ensembles that reflect Jackson’s captured bohemian look.
