FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Jaclyn Aniol

Spring is right around the corner and we’ve had enough warm days to see lightweight knits and cardigans pop up around campus, but I’ve never seen a sweater as unique as this one. This Fashionista caught my eye sporting your average tunic sweater with one small difference: braided sleeves! The basket-weave detail on the sweater makes this sweater out of the ordinary and puts plain, boring cardigans to shame. The braid extends into the swooping neckline, adding some dimension. Her simple dark-wash jeggings and Tory Burch flats keep her look appealing, yet simple and grounded.

Name: Jaclyn Aniol

Year: Senior

Major: Communications Studies and English

CollegeFashionista: Describe your sweater. Where did you get it? What do you like about it?

Jaclyn Aniol: My sweater is a brand called Dark Harts and I got it from Urban Outfitters. I liked that it wasn't just a plain, boring gray sweater. The braided sleeves added that unique element that I look for in my clothes.

CF: Where do you like to shop?

AN: I actually really like to shop online. Websites like boutiques.com and shopittome.com pull great pieces from all different brands that you wouldn't necessarily find in stores. I think if you stick to the same stores you get too comfortable in a set style and are less likely to experiment with different looks. I get my clothes from all over, but the majority of my closet comes from J. Crew, Free People and Urban Outfitters.

CF: Describe your overall style.

AN: I would describe my overall style as classic-casual, with a little unique twist. I like pairing different items together, like Frye boots with a classic button down, and I love when clothes have a surprising detail that makes them a little more interesting.

CF: Do you follow the latest trends? If so, what are some of your favorite winter/spring trends?

AN: I'm loving leather jackets right now. They're the perfect alternative to the typical spring coat, not to mention they're so versatile. They can be worn casually to class when paired with skinny jeans and flats, or dressed up for the bar when worn with a dress and heels.

CF: Who are some of your favorite designers?

AN: I love Marc Jacobs handbags and Tory Burch flats. BB Dakota has some really cool, different pieces, but you can never go wrong with classic J. Crew.

How To: Look for pieces with detailing that make them unique, like this Silence and Noise Racerback Sweater from Urban Outfitters, or this Jeweler’s Choice Cardigan from Anthropolgie.
