I spotted this Fashionista heading to a Wiz Khalifa, Chevy Woods and Big Sean concert in Central Park. With fall right around the corner, summer concerts are unfortunately starting to wind down with the big hoorah being Lollapalooza, which people are still gushing about even weeks later. This Fashionista looked like she had just stepped out of Coachella with her lacey crochet vest, feathered hairpiece and printed wedges. Crochet and white lace — two huge trends this past year — were seen everywhere. Perhaps their cool nature of lightweight fabric and their bohemian feel is what has made them a staple for music festivals and outdoor concerts.
Name: Jessica Ertel
School: Bucknell University
Major: International Relations
CollegeFashionista: What are your top five concert essentials?
Jessica Ertel: Ticket, phone, camera, wedges — most people wear flat shoes to be more comfortable but I never wear flats! And waterproof mascara!
CF: What other ways have you worn crochet?
JE: I wear it on its own or with bandeaus underneath. Crochet is great for layering — I can wear it in the Winter or the Summer. I wear crochet sweaters, scarves, leg warmers, vests — it’s so versatile.
CF: What are you looking forward to most for Fall?
JE: Definitely boots because I love shoes. I’m trying to find a pair of grungy gray short boots that will not get ruined and are waterproof! Everything needs to be waterproof!
How To: Pair a crochet or lace vest over a tank and shorts (could be blue denim or a bright color like J. Brand’s newer collection). Add what could be a cross-body bag to keep you hands free. Then perhaps add a few feathers in your hair if you’re feeling extra boho. And if your philosophy is fashion over comfort, then go with a funky wedge like this Fashionista’s printed lace-ups.
