FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Kelsey Labrot

For some reason, during finals week people start living in the library, neglecting their hygiene and wearing the same tired sweats for a week straight. It’s not a pretty sight to behold. Yet, you must conquer finals week to enjoy three months of a blissful (or productive) summer. And what’s the best way to conquer this monster, you ask? By maintaining your sanity, dignity and style.

Fashionista Kelsey Labrot is clearly “winning” in the fight against finals week, but not in the annoying Charlie Sheen way. Her classic outfit is comfortable enough for long hours at the library and her colored blazer exudes positive energy. Kelsey’s accessories remind me of National Lampoon’s Animal House. Since the film’s Delta Tau Chi fraternity gets expelled for their poor midterm grades, the animals serve as a symbolic reminder not to let the same thing happen to you. I apologize; I am clearly in the middle of studying for my English exam…

Name: Kelsey Labrot

Major: Public Relations

Year: Junior

CollegeFashionista: How would you describe your personal style?

Kelsey Labrot: I think my personal style is very classic and preppy. I like to look put together and colorful!

CF: What is your favorite piece in your wardrobe?

KL: My favorite piece of clothing is probably a vintage beaded orange sherbet colored Lilly Pulitzer dress. It is the perfect little sundress for any warm weather occasion; I'm totally obsessed with it. My favorite jewelry would definitely have to be my pearl earrings! I wear them with everything.

CF: Where do you draw your style inspiration?

KL: I definitely get a lot of inspiration for my wardrobe from where I'm from, Connecticut, but I am also seriously obsessed with Pinterest and love looking at all of the fashion on there!

CF: What is your favorite trend of the moment?

KL: Color blocking! Holy crap I can't even tell you how much I love bright bursts of color!

CF: Any last advice for your fellow Fashionistas?

KL: I'm not sure I'm in a position to give anybody fashion advice, but I always try to encourage people to wear at least one piece that brings color to the overall look!

How To: To get Kelsey’s finals week look, start with a basic white tank and jeans. Add a preppy sherbet-colored blazer, a simple thin belt and a pair of pearl earrings. Add animal-inspired pieces like a pair of leopard flats, a starfish ring and a lion necklace. Go wild with it. Literally.
