As a busy student it is often hard to take in all the wonderful street fashion. When trying to find inspiration for this week’s FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT, it seemed that style had passed me by. It always seems that when you’re looking for inspiration it’s rarely to be found. I had just about given up hope when this Fashionista caught my eye in the University’s office of Student Life. She had a sophisticated yet stylish look that balanced a working girl's look and a college student's outfit perfectly. Trying to balance work and being a student is difficult enough and trying to find an outfit that is professional yet comfortable for class is even harder. This Fashionista has perfected her casual work style, and it's one that we can all learn from.

Name: Lauren Stromberg

Major: Communication Studies

Year: Senior

CollegeFashionista: Do you have a certain dress code for work?

Lauren Stromberg: No, not necessarily. It just has to be work appropriate. I'm the youngest one in the office though, so I like to add a little something so I don't get bored and blend in.

CF: How do you usually piece together a work outfit?

LS: I'll usually pair a cute top, sweater or jacket with a pair of jeans or leggings. Oh, and I always throw in a scarf to add a little flair!

CF: How do you transition your outfit from work to class?

LS: I try to wear outfits that are functional for both work and class, which generally include riding boots and a nice sweater — and of course a scarf.

CF: What inspired your outfit for today?

LS: I'm big on mixing tans and blacks, and I had just purchased the blazer that I'm wearing this past weekend so I obviously wanted to show it off! It's work appropriate and I thought it would also be perfect for a class presentation that I have today.

CF: How would you describe your style?

LS: Trendy, yet classic maybe? I don't really know, I just pick out what I like and piece things together. But I also like to change it up and add a few things that are out of a lot of people's comfort zones.

How To: This look can be easily incorporated into your everyday wear whether you're working or not. First, rock your favorite denim with a statement jacket. This jacket can be worn according to your style. If you want a clean-cut preppy blazer, LOFT has one with great neutrals and lines. For a blazer that's a little more unconventional with a hard edge, ASOS has just what you're looking for. For bright colors and fun prints, Forever 21 has great options. Blazers can be incorporated into your everyday wear. It's an easy way to dress up, look polished and make a statement. This outfit shows that you are a woman in charge!
