Atlanta’s weather has been very bipolar these days and Emory students have been retiring their Uggs and winter coats for warm weather attire. Today’s Fashionista is prepared for a warm afternoon with her lightweight blazer over her striped t-shirt. During winter we all seem to get in the habit of wearing dark or neutral colors. THis Fashionista adds a refreshing pop of color with her red skinny jeans!
Name: Madeleine Evans
Major: Environmental Studies
Year: Sophomore
CollegeFashionista: What are the three items in the your wardrobe that you cannot live without?
Madeleine Evans: My brown, leather riding boots from Banana Republic, 7 For All Mankind dark, skinny jeans and my Marc by Marc Jacobs white, button down shirt.
CF: How would you describe your personal style?
ME: My style is preppy but pretty quiet. I always wear stud earrings, a watch and a ring, but typically no other jewelry. I love navy and white stripes and occasionally I’ll add something with a pop of color, like red or pink, to an outfit. My go-to look is denim or cords tucked into boots with a striped T-shirt and blazer. I do try to incorporate some more trendy pieces into my wardrobe though, like red jeans or desert boots!
CF: Where are your favorite places to shop either here in Atlanta or at home?
ME: I love to shop at J.Crew and Anthropologie!
CF: Who is your ultimate style icon or celebrity girl crush, and why?
ME: I love Phoebe Philo, because of her amazing designs for Chloé and Céline! Her simple, yet sophisticated look isn’t particularly frilly and feminine, but effortlessly cool.
How To: Madeleine’s look is all about the basics. She has mastered the art of layering, a very popular trend. Although all of the pieces in her outfit are relatively simple, when layered together, her outfit reflects her unique personal style. While Madeleine’s style may not be bold or “out there,” that does not mean she is playing it safe. Bright colored denim and a blazer in an unusual fabrication transform her outfit and add a youthful flare.
