Leandra Medine otherwise known as The Man Repeller, has raised eyebrows and turned heads for her ground-breaking silouettes she puts together day after day. She has made a mark in the blogging and fashion world for her quirky take on high fashion, thus concluding that being a fashion risk-taker makes you a man repeller. A “man repeller” frequently gravitates towards fur, leather, studs and oversized anything, along with many other repelling staples us Fashionista's lust over. I spotted this Fashionista in Georgetown heading into an event at Madewell. Her take on mixing two very bold prints instantly grabbed my attention and evoked “man repeller” qualities that I have a feeling Leandra would approve.
Name: Maria Novick
CollegeFashionista: What's the key when mixing prints?
Maria Novick: When mixing prints it is key to consider proportion and the size of the print. Small prints work really well with larger, more basic prints. The two prints should either be in the same color story, or in completley different ones. This makes the look read as chic rather than messy.
CF: How does The Man Repeller inspire you?
MN: She wears what she wants, and works it. She goes there, and doesnt look around. Confidence is key in fashion. There is no use in wearing something bold if you cannot find the confidence to go with it.
CF: What city has the most stylish people?
MN: The obvious go-to would be NYC, in terms of quantity. But Florence and Rome know how to shop! Italians look to quality and wearability of clothes, but are not afraid to flaunt the uber designer looks too! Classic combination!
