With the lovely weather Boston's been having, I've seen Fashionistas shed their winter coats and bloom into beautiful, tall flowers, prancing around campus. This Fashionista is wearing a lovely outfit that is comfortable for a warm spring day. Her jean jacket is a nice touch and the sandals are reminiscent of a cool summer evening stroll along a boardwalk on some distant beach. But I digress.
Name: Maya Errázuriz
Major: Art History, Minor in Visual Arts
CollegeFashionista: Where do you find inspiration for your fashion sense?
Maya Errázuriz: I love looking at store catalogues. Their photo shoots always show really interesting outfits and they inspire me to try new things with my style. I've also found that Pinterest is a great way of looking at all kinds of clothes and seeing how different people wear them, match colors, patterns etc. I also like to think my love for art influences the way I think of my outfits in terms of color.
CF: What fashion icons do you look up to?
ME: I really like the idea of modernizing old looks: simple, classy etc. Actresses like Zooey Deschanel, Emma Watson or Sienna Miller have very nice looks and I like to think I put a little bit of each of them in my outfits.
CF: What music have you been listening to lately?
ME: I've been really into The Black Keys, The Temper Trap, Beyonce and Bag Raiders.
CF: Where do you find college-friendly fashion?
ME: I mostly shop at H&M and Urban Outfitters but occasionally I find things at Anthropologie and Madewell too.
How To: Start with a simple color palette for your outfit. This Fashionista chose light browns and blues. Begin with a white blouse so you can play off of it with different colors. Add a high-waisted skirt and denim jacket like this one from Lucky Brand. Add a pair of sandals that go with your color palette and your outfit is complete!
